Madrid, Spain has declared bullfighting a protected art form, and other regions have followed suit. This special status gives bullfighting organizers tax breaks and could bring charges against those who would try to stop bullfigts!

THIS Heritage should not be protected! In all bullfighting and rodeos, these animals will be tortured, maimed and possibly killed. Their life is pure sacrifice for the greed of those who make money off them.An end has to be put to this mean and arrogant way of life.

Important article....what is wrong with Madrid? High art?! What's the difference between this and the barbaric gladiator fights of ancient Rome? YUCK. Thanks for sharing this article! I see many Spaniards are fighting bravely to define the true meanings of art, cruelty, and barbarism in their country, and we will stand behind them.

What a backward step Spain is talking. Good luck to all you compassionate Spaniards in fighting against this cruel 'sport'.

That's shame not heritage!!!
While most Spaniards opose bullfighting Spanish government make them paying taxes to keep the cruelty alive!
It makes me sick when I think that politicians always can find a way to protect the worst cruelty.

Thanks for the post! This heritage is heartbreaking! Can heritage be modernized to suit the present times and eco conditions!? In my opinion there is a little flexibility required!

Gee what a surprise. No wonder I have no desire to ever visit Spain. The only good thing Spain has is the Running Of The Bulls where the Bulls can get some payback. Bullfighting Cultural Art, what a croc of S**t. As time keeps passing humans keep looking more pathetic.

The government telling the people how it will be. As Ekiem says, 70 to 80 percent of Spaniards are against bullfighting, but their very own government does not want to faithfully represent their views. Thank you Anne. Sad news, but let's hope it will soon be over-turned.

I think the governement has no shame at all. What kind of country is this where bulls are being tortured and killed to death? Its very disgusting to read the headline. How can torturing and killing bulls be a heritage?Sad.they are still living in primitive age.The government needs to wake up.

Matadors are ugly. They are vile, sick and cruel. The only thing brave about them is the fact they DARE to walk out in those ridiculous outfits - CLOWNS!!
