'Cute' or not, I vehemently oppose this barbaric practice.
And selling the 'products' to China? Talk about 'shaking hands with the devil'...!!! (Thank you, General Dallaire for that phrase.) And what contaminated imports are us boneheaded Canadians getting in return?
If anyone thinks seriously, notwithstanding the horror of the hunt, that this will not feed China's corruption, then they have their head in the sand. Just look at their record for human and animal rights.
SHAME on HARPER and his greedy, myopic cronies....

No, it won't mean 'more work for seal hunters' - it will be the other way round, as it is with anything that our oriental neighbours undertake - the Chinese will drive the market, more animals will be required, and the killling will become more prolific.- probably set up seal farms for the purpose, given half the chance.
What is it with people? Why is the Canadian government being so blinkered, or blind? These dreadful oriental nations, who have not a jot of respect for any animal life, are assaulting the animal world left, right and centre. They'll eat anything, slaughter anything, weasel their way in to anywhere - only yesterday we were talking about the lemurs in Madagascar - the Chinese are in there, massacreing the rosewood trees - 'because they like rosewood'.
This is insanity, and it is the governent of each Western country, doing deals, dodgy or otherwise, who are actually the cause of this trouble. This will come back and bite us. Look at us, technically few, people of the world, who come here and voice over and over again our disgust and despair over the cruel animal issues perpetrated by China, Japan and Korea. . . . .we are implicated, by our governments actions, of trade and deals, of approving of these countries?? And it is this sort of thing that causes trouble, and 'racism' - because we are being linked to 'races' that are doing things that we find totally abhorrent. We are meant to be the forward-thinking nations.
WE HAVE TO GET POLITICAL. EACH OF US IN OUR OWN COUNTRIES. WE MUST EACH LOBBY OUR MP's, MEPs, REPRESENTATIVES - NOT JUST SIGN THE PETITIONS, THOSE ARE THE ICING ON THE CAKE OF 'LOBBYING'. THE GOOD PEOPLE OF CANADA MUST BE DESPAIRING.
