The Wall Street Journal reports today that “for many of the roughly 3,000 political appointees who served President George W. Bush, [f]inding work has proved a far tougher task than those appointees expected”:

Only 25% to 30% of ex-Bush officials seeking full-time jobs have succeeded, estimated Eric Vautour, a Washington recruiter at Russell Reynolds Associates Inc. That “is much, much worse” than when Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton left the White House, he said. At least half those presidents’ senior staffers landed employment within a month after the administration ended, Mr. Vautour recalled.

Carlos Gutierrez, Commerce secretary under President Bush, blamed the struggling economy. “This is not a great time for anyone to be job hunting, including numerous former political appointees,” he said. Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales feels the same way, but his successor, Michael Mukasey, didn’t seem to have any problem landing a job.

UpdatePaul Krugman observes, "[I]t appears that wingnut welfare is breaking down when it comes to former Bush officials."

What business in its right mind would want to hire lairs, cheats and thieves?

Maybe the corrupt ICE program and the corrupt people there can "accidently" deport those ex-bush officials out-of-work people to bushy's ranch in Paraguay...

TY, Blue.

It's hard to find work in an economy that you have had a hand in destroying.

Maybe former Bush administration officials are having a hard time finding work because they worked for a hate-crime criminal—Bush.

At last some good news!! This has made my day.

My favorite comment: It's hard to find work in an economy that you have had a hand in destroying.

My favorite suggestion: Let them join the armed forced in Iraq & Afghanistan and "maybe some really good incentives and when they finish serving, yank them (benefits) and see how they feel of having their benefits taken away..."

Thanks, Blue. I was checking C2NN to see if the ThinkProgress hadn't already been posted and a good thing I did !

Some great advice for these unemployed Bushers.
They can go to work at the Star Kist Plant that Pelosi exempted the company from highering the minimum wage in Jan 2007

d r i f t g l a s s: If you want to know what is really at the corrupt, oozy heart of the Conservative movement (and its filthy little avatar, the Republican
Party) look no further than their ideological trade show: the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC.

MAYBE HE SHOULD FUDGE A FEW FACTS ON HIS RESUME.... In general, there's nothing amusing about someone struggling to find a job. These are very difficult economic times, unemployment is nothing to joke about.

There are, however, exceptions.

David S. Addington, a top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney who was a forceful voice in internal legal debates, is also said to still be looking for work.

Write a few memos defending torture, unlimited executive power, White House law breaking, and the notion that the Vice President isn't part of the executive branch and the next thing you know, law firms are reluctant to take you seriously.

Imagine that.

Things are looking up, must say!

Law firms being reluctant to take them seriously, BRAVO for the law firms, now they get it -- what the law is all about!

Remember, the Republican Party right now is in the shadow of the Bush administration. We’re in the last stage of digesting the tummy ache of having bad congressional leadership; the worst treasury secretary in history; a bad economy. The Republican Party got fired for good reason;it deserved it. — Newt Gingrich, in an interview with Essence magazine.
