Accusations that employees of U.S. security firm Blackwater killed 17 Iraqi civilians "Rambo-style" in September seem to have been confirmed. The Pentagon, the Iraqi government and now even the FBI have come to the same conclusion .

But what are the consequences? At worst the shooters with their itchy trigger fingers will have to look for new jobs. Legally they exist in a black hole which the Bush Administration didn't create as randomly as it now claims. Legal loopholes and grey areas in the law also exist for terrorist prisoners and CIA torturers.

The set-up is deliberate. For most foreign security companies operating in Iraq, neither Iraqi nor international law applies, since the occupying power would have it this way. That is a many-faceted scandal. But even Washington has come to realize that trigger-happy private mercenaries exempt from any responsibility harms its own cause. But even if the U.S. Congress closes these loopholes, they are just symptomatic of a larger issue.

Iraqi sovereignty remains a long way off

Everyone knows what Bush and Buckshot have done: stomping on the Constitution, Bill of Rights, National and International Law, endless lies to start a needless war, no-bid contracts to their 'friends' and backers, appointing people to head branches of government that have NO qualification for the job.....on and on and on. Nothing has been done about their criminal activity, and nothing WILL BE DONE AS THEY CONTINUE DOWN THE SAME ROAD TO DESTROY THIS COUNTRY. The neocons are all for Bush and Buckshot - and they can always get the needed number of Dems to go along with them to keep from getting an override of their criminal activity.. I still find all this Amazing. We have rotted from the inside. How much worse will they make it for the US and the World before we are rid of them? And what assurance can we have that the 2008 election won't be stolen for another of their Brainless Wonders, of either party!, to continue down the same path? I don't believe the US has ever been in such serious moral, ethical, political, right-wing fanatical religious trouble as we are facing today. I sure hope I am proven wrong on this assessment of our country!!

The Commander-in-Theif is still "in charge" of the Entire Fiasco & the buck stops at his bloody, grubby hands!
We can't wait til 2008!
Dennis in '08 - Kucinich is the true voice of the people!:
Kucinich has done this:
(1) co-sponsoring with Rep. John Conyers HR 676, a universal health plan;
(2) voting AGAINST the Patriot Act;
(3) voting AGAINST invading Iraq;
(4) promising to withdraw from the World Trade Organization and NAFTA, & standing opposed to weapons in space;
(5) voting against a flag-burning amendment;,
(6) advocating a 12-point plan to get our troops safely out of IRAQ;
(7) voting to cut off funds for prosecuting the Iraq war;
(8) urging the signing of the Kyoto Protocols to cut down on pollution;
(9) advocating education for all, from kindergarten through college;
(10) urging the creation of a Department of Peace,
(11) ending the phony "war on drugs”;
(12) urging renewal of the environment;
(13) sponsoring H.R. 799, previously known as HR 333, to IMPEACH Vice President Dick Cheney; and
(14) abolishing the death penalty.
All of these positions favor the people over the wealthy and well-connected.
