McCAIN: No. No. I-the fact is that I'm different but the fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I've been totally in agreement and support of P

Is anyone really surprised by this? It has been going on for 7+ years. If you can remember back to the 2000 race when GWB ran against Sen. McCain, GWB did everything he could to discredit him. Unbelievable! Does anyone not believe that with McCain, you get 4 more years of GWB? Now that would be a disaster of mammouth proportion!

McCain is the Republican politician who:

a) Once sat out a vote on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, claiming that he would have opposed legislating equal pay for women had he voted. Instead of equal pay, McCain said, women need “education and training”

b) Has pledged to overturn Roe v. Wade

c) Opposed the Title X family planning program, which among other things would have provided low-income women with birth control and breast and cervical cancer screening

d) Opposed efforts to permit women to fly combat missions in the military. His reasoning: “The purpose of the military is first to defend the nation’s vital security interests throughout the globe, and only second to ensure equality.”

It enrages me that the media continue to cast doubt on whether Barack Obama is able to secure enough of the white votes necessary to win the upcoming presidential election.

Playing the race card magnifies continued racial discrimination in the US and also helps to maintain and perpetuate the notion that white America has yet to honestly embrace the African-American as an equal.

Since the media encourages us to discriminate, let's look at age discrimination, too. I wonder how many voters will NOT vote for John McCain because he is a geriatric candidate who has the potential for suffering serious mental and physical deterioration while in office. He is already 71 years-old!

Also, I wonder how many people will NOT vote for John McCain because they believe that he may have suffered some serious psychological damage as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. ***Insert here the notion of mental health discrimination.*** Indeed he served his country well in that questionable war (interesting how we are currently engaged in yet another questionable war). He was a POW for six years and McCain broke down under some serious torture. I wonder what tolls such torture continue to take on John McCain’s life. It certainly was nice that John McCain released his medical records pertaining to his PHYSICAL health. However, it would have been much appreciated if he had also released information regarding his MENTAL health. Anyway, this certainly is some food for thought when considering who to vote for.

I hope that when the race card is played in the media--reminding us that Barack Obama is Black--that all Americans consider and employ all forms of discrimination that fester and surface in our country. Indeed, it would be a shame if candidates were discriminated against unfairly.

McCain's most obvious psychological problem is his NeoCON attitude, which he clings to despite the horrible toll nearly 8 yrs of Bu$h-League policies have inflicted... whether this insanity is 'Nam-related I don't know & don't care! Crazy is crazy - and it seems only RepbliCONs are rewarded for it.

Jared Bernstein: Cutting Through The Fog

The election debate is already off the rails, and misinformation is swirling like balloons at the convention. There's a new and fascinating sleight of hand in the McCain economic plan that's worth some close
attention. Also, McCain says he's the big tax cutter and Obama's going
to raise your taxes through the roof. That's not just a little bit wrong -- it's a lot wrong. Here are some campaign trail low-lights.

If your parents think John McCain is an okay guy, sit them in front of The Real McCain site and make them watch all the videos they've got.
