Why is this child up so late every time there is a camera op? Why isn't this baby sleeping in a crib or bassinet somewhere with a sleep sheep or some other sound apparatus lulling him into night-night?

Is it just me?

Or did one thing irritate you more than any other "Aw, Shucks," " You Betcha," "Say it ain't so, Joe" moment during the debate?

It actually came after the debate, when for seemingly the millionth time, Sarah Palin trotted out her piece de resistance, her favorite prop of this campaign season: her five and a half month old son Trig.

Why is this child up so late every time there is a camera op? Why isn't this baby sleeping in a crib or bassinet somewhere with a sleep sheep or some other sound apparatus lulling him into night-night? Is it just me or does it seem like she carts this poor child around like a living breathing example of how wonderful a mom she is? After all, she's more than adopted the "I'm just a mom, just like you moms out there, America" attitude.

But the truth is, if she was just like all you other Moms out there, America, then she'd know the best thing she can do for this infant is to make sure he is tucked safely in his bed and out cold at eleven pm. And please don't say well, maybe she doesn't have anyone to watch him. Believe that, and I've got a Bridge to Nowhere that I want to sell you.

I've been a mom for eight weeks and two days, which automatically qualifies me as an expert, and you betcha, my son is as close to the pillow as possible by 7pm, on a good night. Well, no pillow... I read the books.

My point is, if Palin is going to keep shoving the motherhood card down our collective throats, maybe she can start being a mom again and stop using her own kid for political gain.

Trig deserves a good night sleep.

i think more moms like Suzy Shuster need to speak out -i so completely agree with her -a baby is not a pawn -sarah is a very sick girl and in serious need of a long term rehabilition in-patient facility.

I felt the same way, Blue. McCain told her to bring the kids out for the hockey moms and Joe 6-packs to see, and 'darn it' that's just what she did 'by golly gee whiz!'

What also bothered me was how she continues to hand over the baby to her youngest (?) daughter. Here they are on stage where stairs and obstacles could easily trip a young girl while she's carrying an obviously heavy baby for her mother. Even if she has no concern for the baby and her daughter's safety, what a mess it would be if her daughter fell across the stage with the baby in her arms! Palin just doesn't think!

I too get the feeling Palin doesn't hold her baby very often.

If I were a hockey any other type of caring mom, that's what I would be thinking...

Marion......I wondered too about all you mentioned.

Palin is not your average mom/woman. Palin is on a power trip.....

Bigtime!!

I guess the Republican stand after Bush is ANYONE can be President or VP as long as you submit to the will of the Neo-cons pulling the strings behind the scenes! McCain is running as a 'war hero', Palin is running as a mom from a small town, Bush got in despite being a failed alcoholic businessman.

Margaret and MIchael, I'm not a new mother; that claim was made by the author of the article ...

What bothered me even more than the photo op of Palin holding the baby was when she passed him off to the small daughter and the little girl was going up and down steps holding him. I held my breath fearing she would misstep and he would get his head bashed in. Another thing, that little guy doesn't need to be around all the noise and lights. Thanks Blue

If she cares so much about being a mom then she should put aside her political goals and stay with them while they are young. Not all of us have that opportunity.

I lost my breath when I saw her hand over the baby to her very youngest and smallest daughter. I am a Mother of four and would never even consider allowing any of my children to carry their sibling while walking around. If she didn't "have time" to hold her baby I wonder why she did not bring a stroller? Did anyone else see the Father nudge the little girl out of the way with babe in her arms so he could shake someones hand? I was simply appauled. I feel sorry for those children, can you just imagine what life must be like in the Palin house with Mom and Dad in the yard holding mock debates! I actually haven't seen any footage of Palin actually Mothering any of her children. When one of my babies was diagnosed with specaial needs I quit my job, put College on hold, and devoted my life, time, Love, energy, and compassion into helping him be the very best he can be and am happy to say he excelled and is flourishing. How can you pursue political office when your child is in need? No, I don't think Palin can relate to the typical Mom. A typical American Mom puts her child before any of her personal desires. In my book Sarah Palin failed this course.

What a fantastic article~it is RIGHT on!!! I feel Palin is a very poor mother, and I feel very sorry for her children. The woman is disgusting on SO many levels!!!

Connemarra...Thank you for pointing out how the father nudged his daughter out of the way with the baby in her arms to shake hands. I missed that. Outrageous!!

Palin and her husband are actually unfit parents!!!

Not only could she have used a stroller, but what about a nanny? Surely they can afford one. As has been said, this was all about promoting her baby and family to hockey moms. She does not represent family values and every parent should be able to see that.

I admire you for putting your education and career on hold to take care of your baby.
