A Kansas City grandmother is suing John McCain and Sarah Palin for promoting hate speech. Mary Kay Green told KSHB that some statements at McCain campaign rallies terrify her as much as the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

"I know the secret service is on this case, but John McCain and Sarah Palin can stop some of this by a statement that they abhor these death threats and will not tolerate them," said Green.

The 66-year-old civil attorney, a lifelong Democrat, claims in the suit that the McCain campaign has intentionally and recklessly portrayed Barack Obama as a terrorist.

Green said, "You have to take these things seriously."

Green believe that Palin has been working crowds into a frenzy. There have been reports from McCain campaign rallies with words like "kill him," "off with his head," and "Muslim terrorist."

According to Green, her father managed the Nebraska campaigns of John and Robert Kennedy. After both were felled by assassins, her father died "of grief."

"I think John McCain and Sarah Palin have no understanding of what we went through as a nation," she said. "[The lawsuit] will be dismissed as soon as I hear public statements from these two candidates that they abhor these death threats and that they will not tolerate these intruders in their audiences."

KSHB has more details here.

This video is from, broadcast October 17, 2008.

I was wondering when someone would take action. McCain and Palin are dividing this nation. If this isn't unpatriot and un-American, I don't know what is. They both should be jailed for tolerating death threats. Thanks Blue.

When You Know You Are Losing

There is now a pattern emerging from the McCain campaign and its surrogates. Instead of trying to persuade Americans who aren't in their camp (the sign of a campaign that thinks it can win), they are trying to de-legitimize them (the sign of a campaign that thinks it can't).

That's what you hear in Sarah Palin's disquisition in Greensboro, N.C.,
on "these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation." (So what does that say about the rest of the country?) That is what you hear in Nancy Pfotenauer's
suggestion that there's a difference between Northern Virginia and "real Virginia." It is what you hear in Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann's crazypants rant about--well, I really don't know what. And it is what you hear in a robocall strategy that is as ridiculous as it is cowardly. (On that score, Republican Sen. Susan Collins deserves credit for calling for a stop to it in her state.)

On the other hand, here's what you do when you think you are winning, and you are looking at the challenges of governing at the end of a divisive campaign:

In it for the literal kill just for the win -if secret service was going to do something -they would have already -instead they are protecting palin and the evil at her rallies enticed by her. I am proud of this grandma using her rights to stand up against the hate -because it is terrifying -and it is tearing down the walls we have worked so hard to build.

I think a class action suit against the entire RepubliCON Party for enabling this hate-speech & inciting violence would be in order! I DO NOT believe the Secret Service or the FBI is investigating Anyone they Should Be - too busy putting that grandma on Terrorist Lists!

Excellent idea, Yvonne. I agree, SS and the FBI answer to the Bushies, so we know where the investigations will their favor.

If the RepubliCONS run their campaigns like this, sleazy and fraudulent (electronic voter fraud and lies), how would they run our country? Like Bush has run the ground.

This should be foremost on every voter's mind.

Sarah Palin's Appearance on SNL a Huge GOP Disaster

Without Tina Fey, this was Saturday Night Dead and there was nothing worth seeing but more nails being indirectly pounded into the GOP coffin.

I see this person called Blue B (not our Blue Bunting) thinks so little of themselves. I have heard from a psychologist that when someone spouts foul words like this they usually represent what the person thinks of themselves and hope that by directing it at others, people will not realize what low self-esteem they have and are helpless they actually feel about their own lives. They might also be possessed by a demon, depending on who you ask.

I tend to agree with the psychologist and I feel very sorry for this person. Life must be very difficult because they are unable to communicate their frustrations and feelings clearly to others. The self-hatred must be horrendous to deal with on a daily basis. I hope Obama wins so this person can afford mental healthcare and soon. Otherwise, the situation for this person looks pretty dire. This person is in my prayers and I ask God to give them love, healing and wholeness. Amen and Blessings.

My coment in another forum:
Are we not stretching the point a little? Must we always look for the politically correct fifth leg of the cat? Does a man who was tortured in a foreign prison have no right to be a little suspicious of 3rd world political prototypes? I am a nationalized 3rd world immigrant and I wonder if my newly adopted compatriots realize the fantasy in which they live! Have we forgotten 9-11 so quickly? Is the reality of the fact that there are people who do not care about fairness, law, justice or mercy so hard to believe?
Although it is commendable to be good and kind, it is foolish to be so naive that we think we have all the answers for complex and uncertain situations. Please let us not judge the inscrutable with the conviction of infallible beings!
Thank you for letting me state that I prefer a little restraint and not to indulge in hasty and careless judgments: “Cuam multa fieri non pose, priscuam facta judicatur”

Willem...You need to do your homework. McCain is no hero, he is inciting racism in this country and dividing it with his sleazy, lying campaign, and he is purposely avoiding the issues and the fact that he will just carry out more of Bush's agenda. But I think you already knew that.

Willem Vermeer (1)
Monday October 20, 2008, 4:24 pm

Thank you, Marion, for the quick assessment of my shortcomings, but I did not intend to make or destroy heroes with my comments or my lack of assiduousness doing my homework. I just wanted to point out the fact that when we "protest too much" a subject we get the opposite result:
My ironic comment on another forum:
“After reading all the hatchet jobs on MacCain and Palin, by the expert clairvoyants in the forum, I am ready to become a Republican and vote for them, I feel I owe it to them as vindication for all the concerted efforts to demonize their characters. Everybody seems to fallow what Eric Hoffer called "The True Believer" position, which is to join the bandwagon without ultimately really KNOWING the facts. Whatever happened to distributing the blame of past mistakes on Congress, lobbyists, and politicos in our Democratic form of government? I am sure there is much blame to share in by both parties in government. I thought only politicians made disparaging remarks about INDIVIDUALS, in order to get elected, but it seems that our noble citizens are more vehemently intent than the politicians to throw mud on the competition. Since I am just simple in my perceptions, I view this type of behavior as pathetic sportsmanship. Oh well, that is just me!”

For Willem:

BREAKING: CA GOP Vote Registration Contractor Arrested for Registration Fraud, Perjury "This just in as Brad is headed over to the FOX News studios. West Virginia voting machines flipping Obama votes to McCain Now
will we hear about this and other incidents for days or weeks on end on
FOX and Friends? My guess is no way, because as the article says, "In
both counties, Republicans are responsible for overseeing elections.
Both county clerks said the problem is isolated." The FOX double
standard applies.

If people did not "protest too much" many groups would not have a lot of civil liberties and rights that we take for granted.
And you criticize others for hopping on the bandwagon without paying attention to the facts, yet you state that you are ready to become a Republican and vote McCain-Palin as a backlash to the criticism of them. Your logic evades me.
Both sides have been attacked by supporters, but calling a person dangerous, or palling around with terrorists, and building a hate rhetoric to the extent that people shout death threats in a crowd is just irresponsible. I am sure that McCain did not intend for the rabid nature of the crowds to escalate to this level, but it is his campaign, and he has a responsibility for his camp's message. And the fact that when confronted at the third debate, he refused to speak out against the hate speech is just despicable. It is this sort of behavior that has made me lose some respect for McCain.

Dear Blue Bunting.

Everybody is still missing the point of my comments: What have I, or any candidate, or MacCains Grandmother to do with the inevitable innate corruption dwelling in certain human beings? "Guilt by association" is one of the logical fallacies that I am worried about, “misrepresenting what people say” is another. For example, the quotation "...doth to much protest" I made, is from Shakespeare, where he seems to imply that normal people without an agenda need not exaggerate, because exaggerations is a ploy used to divert the attention of the listener away from the facts and the truth.
I suppose, by now all the Wiccans in the pristine forests are burning fires under my effigy, chanting, “burn the devil who dares to plead for fairness to the monsters.” I bow to the lynch mob; at my age one learns that Justice is truly blind, blind about who is innocent and who is not (I suspect that is my point?). Otherwise I would be logically forced to
celebrate the torture of the Guantanamo prisoners. Oh well, just an old man’s foolish ideas of fairness.

Say Anything: Help John McCain Get His Message of Hate and Racism to Every American VoterYou'll want your fellow citizens to be prepared when the real hate comes down, so, please, take this first series of robocalls and share them.

Marion Y (322)
Tuesday October 21, 2008, 1:26 pm
Blue...Thanks for the link. I agree that these robocalls won't help McCain very much. Even if gas goes down to $1 a gallon, at this point, people are fed up with the fear-mongering, the lies and racial attacks. We want SUBSTANCE like: jobs, help keeping our homes, help getting a home, healthcare, education, affordable food and consumer goods, alternative energy and no more wars!! What could we do with $9 billion per month without the war?

We want our image to improve around the world. We want to feel safe. We want to enjoy our families again without worrying about what new evil deed Bush will do next, or debating whether Obama is a Muslim or not - which he isn't.

The American people are tired up to our eyeballs from the ups and downs of the failed policies of the Bushies and their smoke screen trumped up fear tactics. TIRED!!

So let McCain continue with his robocalls, his latest smear tactic and his newest "Joe The Plumber" gimmick. We have now come to expect this stupid, immature, sleazy nonsense from the RepubliCON$. They are losing in the House, Senate and may very well lose the presidency.

Most people are not usually violent or hateful. But we do have the trait within us all. The RepubliCON$ know this and have used it successfully. I call them "arsonist racists." Hopefully, the voters will cause them to flame out...

We're not as dumb as we may look...

The blame for the one man (Bush) tragedy brought about to our nation, occasionally shared by the "stupid, immature, sleazy nonsense.... RepubliCON$", if I read the posts correctly, will be resolved when our new Messiah takes his place?
Be careful what you wish, you may just get it and live to regret it!
No one, except fools, have certainty of knowledge of future events. Namecalling, obfuscatin issues and pretending we have all the answers unfortunately only leads weaker minds to make mistakes and go the way of the Lemmings.
Please continue on all your worthwhile endeavors.

Like I said: Reason slides some people’s minds like water on a duck's back.
We should all be musicians; we keep harping on our ego’s wishes day in and day out,
still convinced by our own emotions and guesses that our views are the only correct ones.. Politics here are like baseball or football games, great loyalty and fanaticism for "our team" and absolutely no substantial reason to believe the winner will do us any good.

Worth thinking about - How Racism Works

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said "I do" to?

What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?

What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

PS: What if Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter....

Blue, why are you confusing a man's baggage with the man? Herman Goering was a genius and very popular, it did not make him a good man. In Spanish there is a proverb that translates: "Tell me what company you keep and I will tell you who you are" Have you read Obama's books? He clearly tells you
he does not like or emulate whites (is that you?), he will stand with the Muslims if he has to decide(is that you?),he will unconditionally make friends with governments that hate us( is that you?).
I waste my time, you are only impressed by doctorate degrees, but it has been my experience that degrees don't improve your sight or your good sense, they just give you more information in some specialized discipline. Believe me I know!

Late Update: Subsequent reporting

Obama was much more aspirational than anything they'd worked out a
