Scientists are particularly interested in studying how the radiation impacts the monkeys' central nervous systems and behaviors over time.

This just isnt normal or right to me...I cant fathom. This so reminds me of that matthew brodrick movie.....gezzzzzzzz They are so going to be messed up..........

This is just so wrong...

Why the hell doesnt NASA get a human to experiment on? Im sure there are plenty willing to do it, for a price and of free will! There are a ton of humans wanting to donate their bodies to science!

But? a helpless monkey they wouldn't have to pay (nor get consent from)

Nyack I wish they would use the humans that want this instead of these poor guys.........It breaks my heart just knowing what they are gonna go through...all the sickness, poking, needling and such...hhhhhhhhhhhhh

NASA bombed the moon. They do not care about our environment or animals.I am sure this is not the first time they have experimented on animals. All the money they spend on blasting a rocket into space. That money could take care of alot of homeless pets. Now they are into animal torture? There was a petition to stop NASA from bombing the moon. How about a petition for this?

As soon as I read this crap, I thought of the Matthew Brodrick movie Project X as well. We need to all contact NASA. I don't suppose there's a petition yet?

If they want to know how long term radiation affects humans, then they should be experimenting on humans. This is ridiculous and unnecessary.

Yeah there is all kinds of animal testing going on - I am sure a great amount of the testing isn't even public.
What can you do??
Yet I guess its not as bad when they do it on humans RIGHT.
Your gov has done testing for years on Humans as well - what has been done to stop it - They sprayed chemicals over a whole city for years and did anyone stop it?? - so go ahead and cry about the animals - when they are killing us - who will protect your animals then??

Hmmm...I remember about 1986 or 1987 thumbing through a "Preliminary science evalutation" on several Apollo missions, and NASA took six monkeys to the Moon and killed them and examined their brains.

there were scientists who were angry about this.

This has been going on for years and will no doubt continue; as for doing similar to humans, they already have / do. Many soldiers and members of the military (low ranking of course) have been exposed to A-bomb tests at close range, eg Bikini Atoll 1957, and in the UK they were told to "help research into the common cold" in the 1960s but unwittingly were exposed to germ warfare testing. (They still suffer similar symptoms to Gulf War Syndrome, even 40 years later.) There is no excuse for irradiating monkeys (or any other animal or person) since the biggest experiment of this kind in the history of mankind, was when the US dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So, no one can doubt what the long term effects of radiation are, as its been 64 years now.
Its not just NASA doing these unthinkable things -- apparently the Russians are going to send 10 macaque monkeys into space and send them off in the direction of Mars. The poor macaques will die a horrible death, of course, just like Leika the dog, who was sent into orbit in 1957 by the Russians and who died of heat and dehydration. (See www.ad-international.org )

More BS to misuse taxpayers hard earned money.
Most Americans don't agree with spending trillions of dollars for space when we should be cleaning up our own planet. Now once again our money will be misused to torture and murder innocent, unsuspecting animals:(

Like we don't already know what any kind of radiation will do to any living creature.
This is why I'm a strong ALF supporter

Thank you Cher for the link. I first want to say that I find all animal experimentation very disturbing and it takes a disturbed mind to do such things!

I hope the ALF gets involved as these are serious violations against life; Darn them!

Thank you,

ty Kathy for this forward, as the ALF and members of SHAC are called violent extremists, they are devoted in their efforts to stop this senseless shit, and yet they have not harmed a soul, the tormentors in research cannot say the same. the people who conduct the research, Gorilly don't care what animal they abuse, apes of all types are high on their list.
there was another note where so many spoke against the 'violent' members who are trying to save these poor unfortunate souls, but not a word of sympathy from them when it comes to the animals, there are certain humans who erroneously believe we have the right to use God's creatures in any fashion, well let them tell that to God on their day. as for today, let them reap what they sow.
these liars who call themselves researchers will test anything on animals, they are still testing the effects of smoking and methamphetamine, using apes for this 'research'. now if this were conducted on humans it would be call a violent abuse.
I have no compassion for any in the field or anyone who condones this torture. these are not animal lovers, they only love some animals to a certain extent, you can't love an animal and watch it suffer, can you?

B######s!!!!! The heartless scumbags need to do it to themselves instead of innocent animals. Thanks for the link to the petition Cher. Noted with rage. Thanks Gorilly Girl for bringing this to our attention.
