In a full-page ad in The New York Times, the Center for Consumer Freedom Tuesday cited the Vick case in accusing People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals of hypocrisy and animal euthanasia, ABC NEWS reported
Peta
loves to point the finger at others when they should be looking at their own record of killing more than 90 percent of the animals left in their care," said the ad, which cost more than $181,000.

PETA officials called the ad grossly misleading and accused the CCF, a non-profit group, of representing corporate interests who oppose PETA. In other campaign ads, the CCF has defended food, alcohol and tobacco interests, ABC News reported.

I READ THE ARTICLE AND DON'T SEE "ANOTHER SIDE TO IT". I ALSO NOTED THIS FROM THE ARTICLE:

"Feldman called PETA an “extremist” organization but said the association would follow up on the reports with the Buffalo Zoo.
However, he said, the fact that animals have died at the Buffalo Zoo is not, on its own, a sign of poor care at the zoo because animal deaths are normal in zoos and in the wild.
Feldman added that the zoo responded quickly to issues raised by the association in 2006.

IS THIS THE SAME FELDMAN WHO OWNS RINGLING? IF IT IS AND HE HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS ZOO THEY CANNOT BE TOO TOUGH ON THEM. THESE ANIMALS ARE NOT THERE BY CHOICE AND MUST BE PROTECTED. FAR TOO MANY ANIMALS HAVE DIED IN THE ZOO AND WHEN THE USDA CITES YOU, IT HAS TO BE BAD AS THEY NORMALLY DO NOTHING UNTIL A SITUATION IS MORE THAN SERIOUS.

I WILL STAND BY PETA FOR WHAT THEY DO FOR ANIMALS AND NOONE WILL EVER CHANGE MY OPINION OF THIS GROUP!

I may not agree with everything PETA stands for but I will take their word OVER CCF ANYDAY! Hmmm...so the "other side of the story" is to keep exploiting the animals in this awful zoo. It's NOT only PETA that's calling for action against the Buffalo zoo, IDA, HSUS and others are as well.

If you care about animal welfare, you would sign... otherwise, if Animal Welfare is NOT a cause you support, your 2cents is worth less here. That goes for CCF and all their supporters.

Just my 2 cents.

Btw Betina, this action is "ASKING" to "INVESTIGATE" the zoo... you CAN change the text body to make it clear that you're ASKING and not "ACCUSING." What harm would it do if they're not guilty? A lot more harm would do by not asking and let them continue to operate their "alleged" hellhole. Thats of course if the real concern is animal welfare and not just to interject an anti-peta point of view.

It is about time that they inspect this zoo, I am from Niagara falls , NY and the last time that I went there which was probably in 2003 it was in disgusting shape and the animals to me looked not take n care of. this it no the zoo that I went to when I was little and the animals were well take care of but because of politicians in that are it has come to this. This is a zoo which should be in better shape since this is being paid for by the visitors. i live in Chicago now and our Zoo which is the Lincoln Park zoo is I think the only free zoo in America and about the best kept up and the animals are take well care of there. So shame on Buffalo and they better clean up their act.

If the USDA inspected the zoo and found numerous violations and incompetence, what action was taken to prevent future suffering and deaths? I didn't see any fines mentioned, or people fired or charged with animal cruelty. Shouldn't an animal in a zoo have the same rights as a cat or dog or any domestic animal and abusers have to answer in a court of law for their behavior? The zoo should focus on the quality of their personnel with direct contact with the animals and spending more time training them. They could get area vets to recommend people, and recruit from community colleges, perhaps incorporating internships. They need intelligent and caring people.
