Awesome!! There is bamboo that grows wild here along with ferns in the state of Maine. This summer I plan to plant a lot.

If you are interested? The link below will lead you to a wonderful site where you can plant trees for as little as .50 cents each & also save rainforest land & butterfly habitat!! You save so much!

Plant life! Plant Trees!! :)

"We stand now where two roads diverge.
But unlike the roads in Robert Frost's familiar poem,
they are not equally fair.
The road we have long been traveling is
deceptively easy, a smooth superhighway on
which we progress with great speed,
but at its end lies disaster.
The other fork of the road—the one
"less traveled by"—offers our last, our only
chance to reach a destination that assures
the preservation of the earth."
—Rachel Carson

"The habit of ignoring Nature
is deeply implanted in our times.
This attitude reminds me of
people who never look you in the eye;
I find them disturbing and
always have to look away."

To plant trees is a very good idea and need all of our support and help, but beware of where and when are planted. People that plant trees (or flowers, or fern, etc. must know what they are doing.(type of soil, damp or dry, rainy, farm, rocky, etc A lot just makes a hole, puts the plan (or tree) waters it by. People looks after what they plant near home (house, town)but try to forget what is been planted 2miles away. Not long ago, in my county, children planted 35.000 trees to tird is already dead.

Thats true Eric, thanks! Planted forest need human care. We have to move from monoculture forests to continuous growth, polyculture forests. It might not be as lucrative for big companies, so they are propably against it.
In fact, nature itself is 'planting' more trees we could ever dream of. The thing is to increase forest area by sustainable landuse.
Agroforestry is one great solution, but we need also more protected forest areas.
I'm hopeful about steps we have taken to right direction ...
