145 Black Bears Shot In Canada's Tar Sands Region

Animals  (tags: animals, conservation, destruction, ecosystems, forests, animalrights, animals, animalwelfare, environment, killed, sadness, slaughter, wildanimals, wildlife )

Environmental practices are so poor in Alberta, Canada, where the dirty fuel known as "tar sands" is being mined, that wildlife officials have been shooting bears that wander too close to the extraction area.

Canada is beginning to look like Idaho! And we are boycotting Idaho, Montana and Wyoming for their abysmal murder of wolves and other wildlife! THIS IS JUST ANOTHER GOOD REASON TO KEEP ANY PIPELINE OUT OF THIS COUNTRY! WE DON'T WANT THEM HERE - THEY ARE FOREIGN INVADERS AND THEY NEED TO STAY ON THEIR SIDE OF THE BORDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANY SENATOR WHO VOTES FOR KEYSTONE XL WILL NOT GET MY VOTE IN NOVEMBER AND NEITHER WILL NOBAMA! I am a lifelong Dem, but, NObama is a sleeze - he is responsible for the delisting of wolves and now they are being murdered in Montana and Idaho and shortly Wyoming. PLEASE BOYCOTT THESE STATES and, keep saying NO to Canadian development in this country!

The list of animals that live in the boreal forest in Alberta is vast and includes black bears, grizzly bears, beavers, caribou, deer, elk, lynx, moose, snowshoe hare, wolves, wolverines, and hundreds of species of birds and fish.
How are all these animals being shot for the sake of Greed and Oil.
This must stop at Once.

I am not pleased that I cannot send a message as I am not a US resident, despite having tried every way I know! This matter as all others, concerns the whole world, and anybody should be able to send a message to say so!! Sorry to all my dear US friends that I cannot give you the support you need. I shall keep trying; have and will, sign all the letters/petitions that I am able. Rosi Caswell Animal Whisperer Therapist

already signed, thanx Caz These greedy persons are barging into territory with blessings from their greedy cronies. My heart goes out to all of our animal kingdom including us...too many folks are being chased off of their own land for the sake of $ which will never be used for any worthwhile purpose...sickening and much work to do.

Thanks for speaking up! Another C2 member had placed a beautiful video on that showed the interconnection between all the various eco systems within this region. It is unique to the world, and many birds, animals and plants depend on everything staying within a balance. Thanks you Caz for helping to stand up to this stupidity of man.

The question remains "How many black bears have succumbed to the toxins released into their habitat by the very process of extracting oil from the tar sands"?

Only when our consciousness is raised above basic survival needs and the compassion for all of life is accepted with a hearty welcome, will the paradigm change for the benefit of all of life, rather than the savage mentality of a hunter. When we cherish one another we will create a better world. Until then, we are operating on a lower spiritual level, and peace is out of reach, for us and for this planet.

thanks for the post Caz and for the fwd Irene. How many animals are facing extinction due to the greed of humans and how long does this go on? How many petitions and letters do we have to sign, send before people realize they ARE precious to this planet and their lives should not be had for the price of oil. Signed and noted with sadness. Will fwd

I could not sign, but I support all those who are able to sign. I am not at all proud of this senseless killing of innocent bears for the GREED of oil. Canada sucks for this! I am forwarding to all my friends so that we get the support it deserves for the wildlife caught in this crossfire of stupidity. Thanks Irene & Toni.

All of the energies, spirit source, intelligence of this Universe has a focal point of LIFE CREATION, and yet, humans KILL LIFE and CREATE ENORMOUS PAIN TO LIFE. How Dare We go against this Great Collective Achievement?

I believe that the karma created by these savages will eventually come back to all of us. This senseless devastation of nature and wild life has a price. How sad for the majority of the people who love and respect nature and wild life. We have to empower our influence and put a stop to it. All politicians need to be made accountable for their actions because none of them give a damn for the will of the people. Can't they see the sheer beauty of nature and wild life. The necessity to nurture and treasure our source of well being? These savages are prompted by a false sense of superiority and thoughts of separation from others. Greed is an illness of the mind.

Thanks for speaking up! Can you chip in?

The U.S. Senate could vote as early as this Tuesday on legislation to try and overrule President Obama's decision to reject the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline. We're working around the clock to alert and mobilize the public about this. But we can't win this fight for wolves without your help. Please use the form below to support our efforts to save wildlife from dirty tar sands oil development.
