A huge new study shows that meat--especially red and processed meat--increases the risk of early death from heart disease and cancer. So why is the federal government still encouraging schools to serve students hamburgers, hot dogs, and pepperoni pizza?

I have known about these dangers for years (as many vegetarians do), this is why I chose to become vegetarian. I worked in a school for awhile, and was always upset that they would not only serve these meats to children, but enforce that they eat all of it. I greatly hope that they reform school lunches. It is more than beyond time.

When Congress renews the Child Nutrition Act it must encourage schools to serve healthier meals. Low-fat, cholesterol-free vegetarian foods need to be more affordable, and schools that serve nutritious foods (fruits, vegetables, vegetarian options) should receive additional funding. There is a group that is collecting signatures to try to get vegetarian options in school lunches. You can find it online at www.HealthySchoolLunches.org.

Why. Because parents teach their children to eat meat. Low fat - cholesterol free diats are good for animals. Your body was made to eat certain things. Why when we were little there were very few over weight people. Kids where much healthier eating real sugar. Most people are being brainwashed about what makes a body more healthy. When I was young you could put dirt on a cut and it would heal it. Now even the dirt which use to supply plants vitamins is no longer presant. I think you should find ut why???? T
