Vote Hemp, a grassroots advocacy organization working to give farmers the right to grow non-drug industrial hemp, is extremely pleased that the Vermont Secretary of State's office accepted Formal Opinion #2008-1 from the Office of the Attorney General

I should've looked for another picture...

More information about hemp legislation and the crop's many uses may be found at www.VoteHemp.com or www.HempIndustries.org.

This could help save the planet, folks.

Yes, good news. Where's California? Up here in Mendoland, for the most part people would rather grow pot for profit, than hemp for sustainability (and some profit). I'd rather see the many young people growers 'being rebels' by growing hemp illegally, than by growing pot for indiscriminate sale (and big profits, not giving back to the community). Medical pot is largely a sham up here. Many of the "legal medical growers' grow actually for more than just medical sales. It's one reason that a Mendocino County measure (Measure B) was just passed (well, it's in dispute now) that will change the legal growing limit from 25 plants a year to 6 plants a year. Many people were/are fed up with the big pot grows, many of which do major damage to the environment. I personally don't use, but feel it should be made legal (along with hemp) in the whole of the US. I think it's overrated medically, as there are many other medicinal and healing herbs available, and healing plant-based diets. But, that said, Hemp is extremely more useful to humanity, imho. Yay for Vermont!

It's about time. I'm so happy. I own a lot of hemp clothes. Hemp is also very nutritious. Good job VT

This is a good step in the right direction. Hemp is one of the world's biggest crops.

Keep up the good work - now let's do this in the other 49 states.

Good! Now we will have a US source for hemp products. What intrigues me is that unlike cotton, hemp requires not pesticides for growing. That means, if hemp is grown on a plot of land, after seven years, that land could me designated organic. Maybe I should move to Vermont.

Love and light,

This is big - !!! The corporations who put hemp out of business in the first place were bad for the planet, economy and our health - now that we have driven our planet to the point of exhaustion with overfishing, pesticides and chemicals - a return to nature is our only hope - God- the creator -whatever name you want to hang on it has already given us all we need - including our brains - it's about time we use em!
