Hold on a minute! You mean to tell me the Japanese is going to send a war ship of sorts to protect the ones killing whales where they should not be killing whales at? Just because the whalers have fished out all their waters from whales? Ain't that the reason why they made that area unfishable? The idea behind a reserve or sanctuary is to keep the species from being killed out of existence! If the whalers would have listened years ago they would not have this problem today. Now they see what will happen they still want to do more damage? Don't they know if they keep it up then they will have no whales at all?

This is exactly why we need leaders who are environmentally conscious and actively work to protect the oceans. Governments should not work in the interests of big business over the interests of humanity.

Reason and commonsense have no place when greed takes over human brain.
Japanese are greedy - But will the countries that respect the whaling rules stop trading with Japan? No. they will not - becuse trade is more important than whales. Their attitude is " run with the hare and hunt with the hound".
Why only whales - many other species will vanish from the seas soon.

So here we go. Just saw on a news show that the Japanese are introducing whale burgers to their people and they loved them. This says a ton of crap. Now the common citizen is introduced to whale meat but they claim it is for science. To boot they are willing to go up against anyone wanting to stop them, no matter what the world thinks. Does sound like they don't care if they start a war or not. Greenpeace is suppose to have these whales interest at heart but won't if sea shepard uses violence. My My, what does that say. Spread out, big ocean. Sea Shepard can do its thing and Greenpeace can go some place else and do theirs. This would cover 2x the area FOR THE WHALES.

I've heard the Japanese can't unload the whate meat they have, that it's basically forced on schoolkids....hopefully they'll get stuck in the ice like the sealers last year.

The Japanese are allowed to have a specific sized navy. Basically their protection is in the hands of the US. For them to send some type of armed vessel to protect the whalers may be a breech of the treaty with the Allies. Should they fire upon any unarmed vessel, it must create an international incident. The oceans are free areas.
Are they up to their old tricks again?

I thought Japan was oppose to any kind of warfare, were they not reluctant to sent troops to Afghanistan and eventually under US pressure disguised the troops as humanitarian helpers.
I don't believe for one moment the Japanese will use it's weapons against the protesters, it's designed as a threat, to frighten the good against the bad, the sneeky Japanese have use for centuries any ploy to fill their stomachs they have no concern for life this means all life not even their own, this is why suicide is an everyday event and lets not forget the tales from our fathers of the 2nd World war Kamikaze pilots, they may adopt the western style clothes, but the snakey smile with the lowering of the head while the hidden knife is in their hand.
The petitions to Governments is not the answer the World must be made aware of the Whales plight by action and should the devils raise their weapons then I believe the World will act against Japan.

The world will watch and do nothing, maybe sign another petition and offcial protest but in the end all the AXXXXXXXXX will agree to disagree on whaling! Commercial whaling will be back and it will come as a complete surprise the IWC will just anounce it one day!

The only way that Japan will start thinking is when they feel in in their pockets!
If you dont buy Toyotas and Sony and all the other great japanese brands and let Japan know that you will not buy until the killing stops the killing will stop!
Dollars matter whales dont matter just look at the picture this picture tells you more than 1000 words!

Good for Japan. Thats what we need is a boat sunk and people killed trying to save whales. Then maybe the world will listen, it always takes people getting killed to get things going. Do you really think they would sink a ship? Thoses gunners dont miss. Iam tired of hearing how they almost got killed. No one will ever get killed unless it was a accident. Japan dont have enough guts to hit another ship. It would bring the world on them. But just fire at them. They play it safe and still kill thoses great whales. Its, we get to do what we want, and you get to do what you want. Like I said, nothing wil change till many people get killed. The more the better. Thats the facts of the world. Its to bad that a whales life dont mean anything till several humans get killed trying to stop it. The only thing that may stop whaling is the shot of many human bodys floating face down in that ocean.

The government of Japan does not stop Japanese whaling for several reasons. First, there is no domestic constituency that can pressure the Government of Japan to end whaling. This is partly due to a weak environmental movement in Japan. Most Japanese see environmental problems in terms of air and water pollution and have little awareness of animal rights. They also equate harvesting whales to the cattle industry.

Second, the government of Japan is very concerned with protecting its rights to resources, especially those of the oceans, from which Japan gets about 40% of its food. Without considerable international economic pressure to its economic interests, it will never change its whaling policies, even with the anti-whaling diplomacy by the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand through the IWC.

Third, the Japanese whaling industry is a powerful part of the Japanese fishing industry and has lots of political power within Japan. As I explained above, in terms of diet and environmental attitudes, the Japanese people do not support, or even understand anti-whaling forces, which, in any case, are not reported in the Japanese press. (I am just returned from eight days in Japan.)

If diplomatic pressure is not working; if the confrontational direct actions of Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd are not working; then boycotting japanese products is probably the only hope. But, it would have to be so massive that it would enter the civic dialogue of Japanese society. Right now, that is not happening. And, powerful forces are at work to prevent the message from affecting the government of Japan and reaching the Japanese people. It will have to be a message sufficiently powerful to shake the table that Japanese eat on.

http://www.tinyurl.com/jointheboycott thats all i have to say! If people do not buy Toyotas and Sony from Japan, maybe they will wake up since the complete world economy is in a downturn a shift in the evoked sets of caring people all around the world would also mean a shift in the pro whaling attitude of the Japanese government!

Just start with your personal boycott of Japanese products join the boycott!

The media will not support this boycott and you will find no anti whaling boycott calls from Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd, IFAW, and the WWF they love to collect money!

A boycott will only work if it is effective the NIKKEI index and daily losses of 10% are not a good climate for a realy bad Japanese Image in the world! How many anti whalers are there on this planet 3 Million? They are in 1376 groups and are all fighting each other!

Just look at the way Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd the two most important whale defenders are fighting each other.....and not the whalers.

On December 8th and 9th, the IWC will hold a second closed-door meeting to consider lifting the ban on commercial whaling around the world.

Commercial whaling is back before you know it.....

From what I've been reading here and there, whaling in Japan is controlled by the Japanese mafia!

Therefore it will be extremely difficult to stop it unless the power of the people is too great to ignore. If you want to express your feelings to the Japanese government, you can do it at:

http://www.kantei.go.jp/foreign/forms/comment.html

It can't do any harm can it?

But it's not just the Japanese who are depleting our oceans.
This week I watched a documentary called 'Eco-Crimes' and it was appalling to realize that the chinese had numerous companies that were illegally fishing all over the world.
They sail under other countries' flags and they respect no international laws whatsoever.
It also showed how the Australian navy managed to apprehend 2 of their illegal fishing ships - but it was a very hard fight, both in the water as in the international courts of law! The Australian government won that battle but the war is far from its end, since there are hundreds of ships illegally fishing everything they can in every ocean on earth!!!

However this should not come as a surprise, since in china for instance they eat cats and dogs, as well as everything that actually moves...!!
So, in that part of the world they are not very concerned about the welfare of animals!!

And so we rapidly head for the total depletion of our natural resources and no one seems to be able to stop it!
The only thing we can do is: preferably become vegetarians, educate our friends and family about what's happening in the world and put as much pressure on governments and institutions as we possibly can!!

They try to serve whaleburgers to their schoolchildren and tell them to be patriotic and eat it and like it. The kids hate it. It ends up as PET FOOD. What a horrible travesty that these sentient cetaceans are being murdered and their bodies are ground up as...dog food. Dog food!

We should be demanding that the UN send armed ships to PROTECT the whales if the Japanese are sending an ARMED murder brigade down there!

I agree on the Boycott they are more toyota's here than any other car or truck and over fishing of the ocean's this too is a problem. They have the great Marlin contest each year to see who can catch the biggest one its sicking to me. Taking this big beautiful fish life just for a trophy. I'm so sick of them killing off the whales and other fish in the ocean, All of this needs to be stopped for if it don't they will all be gone. I hope the Sea Shepard makes there hunting miserable. Thank you In Dark Mirrow
