I find that a trellis is such a great, natural way of filtering out sunlight on a patio that gets afternoon sun...(AZ residents need all the shade we can get!)....not only are they beautiful, you get to watch hummingbirds in them, and yes, they do filter out the rays of the hot afternoon sun!
