I think as Jim stated perhaps these people were just overwhelmed by the amount of dogs they had in their care. Had the American government stepped up to the plate and actually helped the people affected by Katrina then these cases may not have happened. I am sure they were trying to help and it just go to be too much. And I am sure there was no funding for them either. I have friends here in Ontario who still take Katrina rescue dogs ...which amazes me that this is still a need.

Margaret and Jim, I think you are being tooooo kind. The pictures scream a thousand words. All people need to do is ask for help. Why would that women STEAL a dog to add to the hundreds they already had? Margaret you are right about the lack of help or caring on the Government's part though. I mean really, people are STILL living in filth and unsafe trailers. You can only bet that animals would be last on their list. Stephanie I agree the looks of them screams METH addicts. I know I've seen them. Meth addicts have been known to hoard things, tear things apart and live in filth. Just my experiance with them.

It seems like we just don't evolve very fast. There must be strong penalties for animal abuse (and lack of care is abuse) and I think the government should sponsor animal sanctuaries.

They had a place called "EVERY DOG NEEDS A HOME" but theres I don't think needed or wanted..
poor excuse for humans preying on the dogs of this place.. they were as bad as the Hurricane Katrinia ... they both don't look like they have a soft place in there hearts for any dogs that was misplaced by that storm.. its sick how some humans can be... hope they find them & sentenced them for everyone that have something wrong with them & fined them as much ... something has to be done so others won't think about doing the same thing they did.. always the animals that get the worse...

THEY SHOULD BE TREATED AS CRIMINALS, FOR THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE.
LEVEL OF CIVILIZATION OF AN INDIVIDUAL,AS WELL AS WHOLE SOCIETY IS SHOWN IN A WAY WE TREAT WEAKER, IN THIS CASE-HELPLESS ANIMALS! THEYDID IT BECAUSE WERE EXPECTING NO SENTENTENCE FOR IT! AM SURE IF THEY WERE ABLE TO TORTURE HUMAN EXEPCTING NO CONSEQUENCES, THEY WOULD DO IT TOO!

Dear Dave, cruelty to animals should be always posted and exposed for many resons!
First, helples creatures suffer in many ways because of humans, not only because direct cruelty, but because we take them thieir space for normal living. Do you know, for example, that asian tiger is to be extinct because male and female can not meet in needed tiime to mate, SO VERY FEW OD THEM LEFT )
The other reason is that these examples are talking about cruelty, as about sick behavior of human members society and is part of major problem of this world-and cmplete moral decadence and lack of compassion and feeling for community! that is just terrible and in last line it will come back as boomerang to us! Consequences can be devastating for humankind too!
