There's an easy way to find oil. Go to some remote and gorgeous natural sanctuary, say Alaska or the Amazon, find some Indians, then drill down under them. If the indigenous folk complain, well, just shoo them away. Shooing methods include: bulldozers...

Well, I'm not surprised that you and I both would realize that this is news very worthy of noting, my dear friend.  The more exposure, the better!

That said, I'd like to add an Avaaz petition here and encourage your readers to sign and circulate it:

Protect Indigenous Rights - Save the Amazon!

Good on you!

There does seem to be a trend here. And it's not a nice one.

Chevron's lawyer told me, "And it's the only case of cancer in the world? How many cases of children with cancer do you have in the States? ... They have to prove that it is our crude," which, he noted with glee, "is absolutely impossible."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yes, it's just some coincidence that these remote jungle dwellers started getting cancer after exxon dumped billions of gallons of toxic sludge. The only reason it's "impossible" is because of Exxon's wealth and power.

And of course we never hear anything about what goes on in these places in the media (What's the big deal about the rainforest and a few thousand native lives?) until these "dangerous" native supposedly kill some people.

Well Bryan, does the name really matter? The results are always the same, corruption and disregard for human life and the ecological disasters created. I sometimes wonder why all those expensive TV commercials to assure us that Big Oil is spending millions to find safe, sustainable clean sources, when in fact till this goose can no longer lay a single golden egg, nothing will be done. Morality? It's just is a useful word, mega multi-national corporations have no concern for the health or welfare of any people anywhere, and we should by this time know that. It's good to see the people fighting back, I only hope they gain enough attention to be successful. (mustn't forget they are fighting the loggers as well)

Please sign the petition at the link given to us by Carole, every effort is important, and by supporting those fighting for their homes and survival we are fighting for ourselves as well.

PLEASE SIGN: https://secure.avaaz.org/en/peru_stop_violence/

Have signed all the petitions. Have been following the drama Kit, and my prayers are with the earth, its peoples, animalls and the forests.

Petition signed - thanks Carole and Kit. The Peruvian natives are on the front lines of preserving something (not to mention their homes) that we all need saved.

Thank you for taking action! This is an urgent crisis and we need to get as many people as possible to let Secretary of State Clinton know that the US needs to take action!

We watch as our own Native American citizens get beaten to death on a daily basis for oil and resources and do nothing. We have set a precedence for the same to do elsewhere. It's time to take some responsibility for our lack of action.
Signed with great pleasure.
