Microscopic analysis of scratches on dinosaur teeth has helped scientists unravel an ancient riddle of what a major group of dinosaurs ate -- and exactly how they did it!

1. The erroneous idea that all dinosaurs could chew ..... Kit can I ask a stupid question? My knowledge of dinosaurs is not a pot full... Is it because of this lack of 'chewing' that they used the stones found in some of their tummies to 'chew' the food? Or am I getting my wires crossed here?

Dinosaurs are thought to have swallowed stones in the same way birds do to aid the grinding of food in their digestive systems.

I know John, but the non-chewing bit is interesting. And tying that back to the stones seems logical. Birds don't have teeth either, at least not those I've come into contact with. The penguins I fed while doing voluntary work for SANCOB though did leave nasty gashes when they got hold of one's fingers - just ripped!

Interesting question Eureka, and now I will have to do some research and see what I can find out. I thought this article was interesting because the fine traces on these teeth actually lead to such a dynamic change in thought about the group of hadrosaurs.
