In troubled time schools are inevitably take the blame, justified or not. Should these ideas take root; then we most certainly will be a nation of illiterates willing to work for any wage. Meanwhile, the wealthy and very upper classes will be able to educate their off-spring to take the reins of power. The United States Incorporated, is this what we really want?

Most important is - who will fight this?

IMO, Arielle said it pretty darned clearly. That's the plan, as Kit explained. I'm not sure about the "troubled times" part, but it is clear that there has been a concerted effort to weaken the educational system for a long time. I tend to think it's by design, not as a result of other "troubles," but in any case, it's the dumbing-down of America for the purposes of the wealthy, who will be the only ones able to afford education soon. Greedy bastards are willing to do anything for a buck. Our job is to teach them that there's more to life than money and that our spirit will not be broken by their greedy, disgusting, immoral efforts. WE ARE THE 99%!

The whole idea is to dumb us down - so the politicians will say whatever they want to make the schools look bad - I have been a teacher and I ran into money over education - and got expelled from returning to teach for 7 years - that was back in 1992!
