Apparently unable to find real activists, the coal industry paid astroturfers $50 to wear pro-coal t-shirts at an Environmental Protection Agency hearing yesterday.

The EPA hearings, held yesterday in Chicago and Washington, D.C., were focused on the agency’s first-ever carbon standards for new power plants. The industry has adamantly opposed these standards, as well as standards on mercury — a pollutant that even Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) admits is harmful.

A short but amusing article.

The more desperate they get, the more stupid they assume people are.

The really good news is that people are realizing what is going on and they are reacting as a strong voice.

Versions of this behavior have been going on for awhile. Don't know how long...but I noticed it during the infamous "Town Halls" during which busloads were coached and paid to attend and disrupt. Tie shirt props are added in this version, but those paying have remained essentially the same.

Very true, Robert. I wonder if they realize just how foolish this looks?

The wonders of capitalism. However, I am glad it is to the point they have to pay someone to wear the shirts. Maybe one day even a bribe will not be worth it.

You've gotto be kitting...If it weren't so shameful I'd be lmao. Their tricks are as dirty as the industry itself. Thx Kit.

I must add... how low must you step to take money for your opinion? How sad. Democracy is too precious to sell.

And...sadly the lyrics are finally true, "...freedom is just another word for nothin' left to lose...."

The truth has been lost in the haze of floating dollar bills for some time now. Everything you see on the TV news or radio is bought paid for and dumbed down, what you learn is a story not the facts or truths.
