The final four anti-equality Democrats in the Senate **Please Sign at Visit Site**

Senators Heidi Heitkamp and Joe Donnelly, who both hail from deeply red states, announced their support this week for marriage equality. If these two freshman senators from North Dakota and Indiana can stand on the right side of history, so can the few remaining Democratic hold outs in the Senate.

We are now down to the final four Democrats in the Senate who are standing on the wrong side of history on marriage equality: Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Tim Johnson of South Dakota, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, and Mark Pryor of Arkansas. They need to hear from us now.

Tell the final four Democratic holdouts: Join your colleagues who support marriage equality and come out against the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act.

The last few weeks have been exciting for marriage equality. Since mid-March, ten Democratic senators and two Republicans have come out in support of marriage equality. And the Supreme Court is considering whether to strike-down the discriminatory “Defense of Marriage Act,” and overturn California’s Proposition 8.

Now is the time to increase the public pressure on the remaining four senators to stand with their colleagues who support marriage equality and the repeal of the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act.

Tell Senators Landrieu, Johnson, Manchin, and Pryor: Come out in support of marriage equality with the rest of your Democratic colleagues.

Despite their conservative voting records, there is hope that the mounting pressure will encourage them to join with their colleagues and show concern for the gay and lesbian families who are treated unfairly under the Defense of Marriage Act, and don’t have access to the 1,100 federal protections and responsibilities that otherwise apply to married couples.

Tell the final four holdouts in the Senate’s Democratic Caucus to join their colleagues and support marriage equality.

Thank you for standing up for equality.

Already signed (I get their emails) - these RepubliCON cross-overs are making me suspicious..Mark Kirk (R - IL) & Dick Durbin (D -IL) are my senators, so I'm wondering if Illinois RepubliCONs are trying to win over all of us Illinois Democrats who are SO angry with our Faux-Democratic Governor Pat Quinn????

UPDATE: Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota announced his support of marriage equality today. The pressure is working!

Now it is down to THREE Democratic Senators!!!
Thank you, Shirley, you saw it first.
[Cynical me, they don't want to lose their voters - but, that's a GOOD sign that the Public is really with Equality!]

When two people (regardless of gender) love each other enough to want to spend their lives together, they SHOULD have the right to marry and be treated equally under the law. It is simply a compassionate and decent thing to do. The more happy people we have, the better off ALL of us are. Politics and "funnymentalism" have no place in obstructing human rights.
