If we want Washington to focus on the needs of the middle class and everyone working hard to join it, it's going to take more than a great speech from the President. That's just the honest truth. Sign up and tell your story.

If we want Washington to focus on the needs of the middle class and everyone working hard to join it, it's going to take more than a great speech from the President. That's just the honest truth.

So as President Obama lays out his ideas for how we can build on the cornerstones of what it means to be middle class in America, we're asking you to add your voice to his.

Today, he's in Tennessee to talk about what it's going to take to generate good new jobs -- including a plan that simplifies the tax code for our businesses and gives working families a better deal. In the weeks ahead, he'll lay out his vision for education investments to prepare our kids for the challenges of a new century, a path to home ownership for those who work hard, affordable health care that’s there when you need it, secure retirement even for those who aren't rich, and ladders of opportunity so that all of us have the chance to work our way into the middle class.

And if those are principles you support, you need to join this debate as well.

Stand with President Obama in support of a better bargain for the middle class.

In the past week, we've heard from tens of thousands of Americans who've taken time to share their stories with us. They come from every walk of life, but they're united in working to support an economy where everyone who works hard can get ahead.

Simplify the tax code for business

•End incentives to ship jobs overseas

•Lower tax rates for businesses that create jobs in the U.S.

•Lower tax rates for manufacturers

•Cut taxes for small businesses

Create good jobs

•Put construction workers on the job rebuilding our infrastructure

•Expand our network of high-tech manufacturing hubs

•Strengthen job training at community colleges

•Raise the minimum wage

All are ideas and suggestions offered to the Congress - what is your idea?

Those are all excellent ideas, Kit - President or not, one man cannot do it all. We, the people, need to make ourselves heard. There is a Universal Rule that what you put out is what you get back - this country could well learn from that....there could be so many jobs if we worked on the infrastructure - and alternative energy as well.
I was delighted to see someone has come up with an alternative to styrofoam - it is grown, is every bit as good if not better, has no chemicals in it, and breaks down. If we can find an alternative to styrofoam, we ought to be able to come up with viable options for coal and gas. There is so much to do - but we'll need to spend a bit to be able to do it - up to me, I'd take the money from the military budget....

S & N, thanks, my friend. All of those programs are needed by all of us. We don't have time to waste, our country is falling to pieces while the Republi/baggers play their insidious games. They should not be allowed to go out in August unless we have a budget that the President can sign, not a piece of junk.

Put a stop to Private Pension plans - ALL money designated for Pensions should go to Social Security & if you want to contribute more to get more in retirement you should be able to. All these Public Employees pensions that have gone UNfunded in States & cities (like Detroit & Illinois) or have been LOST to Wall $treet $windlers (which included teachers, etc. retirements) would NOT be at risk or completely Gone now!
But above ALL is the Need for Decent paying JOBs - to stabalize our economy, our education, our LIVES!

Personally I'd take the money from foreign aid.
Obama has good ideas but how's he going to get past theGOP/TP?? Almost every one of his ideas is the exact opposite of what the Right wants for our country - should I say for their country. Each time I turn around We, the People have lost something else. We can only lose so much before we sink. I never learned how to swim so keeping me above water level without the lifejacket I've had won't do much good.
Signed and noted. Thank you.

We do need to Focus on our own country Not Other's!!
The USA pays a LOT OF AID!!
Taxes we pay should go to our country!!
The Middle Class pay a good portion of the taxes to do everything!!
Other countries should take care of theirself also!! Use some responsibility!
Jobs should be fixed on staying here in the USA!
Putting people to work and having decent wages.
Having Safe Water and Safe Food!!

1. Absolutely cut the military budget. 2.Stop subcontracting jobs that our military can do to take care of our troops. 3. Pass Senator Warren's preferred loan rates for banks to borrow money for school. 4. Honor middle class FICA payments paid into the social security trust fund and Medicare they paid for decades. 5. Stop too big to fail. 6. Make tax havens liable to pay US taxes for US companies. 7. Cut corporate tax rates ONLY for companies who employ American Workers in the US. 8. Grant large education subsidies to students who get science, engineering, medical, math, and other technical degree. 9. Subsidize on the job training. 10. Provide Single Payer Health Care. 11. Honor all benefits promised to Veterans with no more than 90 days to receive those benefits. AND all the other ideas everyone provided in their comments. Signed and Noted. TY Kit
