Tell the Washington Post: Fire Richard Cohen for his deeply insensitive column - Please Sign!

For years, Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen has shown a callous insensitivity on race issues that embarrasses the newspaper and only exacerbates racial tensions.

He has expressed sympathy for George Zimmerman, and has only just realized that slavery was not a “benign institution in which mostly benevolent whites owned innocent and grateful blacks.” But now, he has offended all interracial couples by saying those with “conventional” views would “gag” at the sight of New York City Mayor-elect Bill deBlasio’s interracial family.

Sign our petition telling the Washington Post that there is no place for Richard Cohen’s ignorant and deeply insensitive column in their newspaper.

Petition Text

Our Message to Jeff Bezos, owner and publisher of the Washington Post

To Jeff Bezos, publisher of the Washington Post:

Richard Cohen’s ignorant columns do nothing but further exacerbate racial tensions in this country, and legitimize views that are offensive. He has no place in a reputable newspaper such as yours, and must be dismissed.

**Please sign and share - with freedom of speech comes responsibility and an even higher bar is set for those who would be journalists. Richard Cohen shows no level of decency or responsibility.

I think most of us believe in the right to freedom of speech however, with each freedom comes a responsibility. Richard Cohen presents himself as journalist and it is proper to hold those who have the public attention to be held to a even higher bar of responsibility.
