It is a rare person who chooses to take an elderly pet into their home; that rare person is exactly what 15-year-old "Daisy," desperately needs if she is to survive.

Though Daisy is certainly in her twilight years, this is not the way that her story should end...alone, without a family, without a friend, without love.

Please take a moment to share Daisy's information, right now, she needs the help of strangers if she is to survive.

I tried to adopt a dog from a California shelter on Care2 once even offering that shelter my credit care and THEY WOULD NOT LET ME DO IT BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF STATE AND COULD NOT DO IT IN PERSON! Can you believe it? I was going to pay the adoption fees and authorize a deserving person to have the dog! A bunch of bunk! California needs to change their policy and go to no kill shelters!

Please share her story, someone may be able to pull her out even at the last minute...

I clicked on Daisy's PetHarbor profile & this is what came up: This animal is no longer in our online database. Please check with the shelter to see about its availability.
I hope that means maybe someone came to adopt her or the worst! If anyone close by can check it out & report back, it would be nice to know! Thanks Sophia.

JUST CALLED, I LIVE IN CHICAGO AND WORK AT ANIMAL SHELTERS ALL MY LIFE AND HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN IN AND OWNED SENIOR DOGS. THEY GIVE SO MUCH LOVE EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED LIKE DISPOSABLE PHONES BY INHUMANE, PETTY OWNERS WITH NO SOULS. CALLED ANIMAL CONTROL 5MIN AGO, CHICAGO TIME ALMOST 6PM AND GAVE DAISY ID NUMBER. THE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER INFORMED ME THAT THE DOG HAS BEEN RESCUED. GOOD JOB SPREADING THE NEWS!

Yepee!!! It looks like a recuer has saved Daisey just in time...keeping my fingers crossed. Also it appears that suddenly there are tons of willing adopting people wanting her!!! Older dogs should always be considered as puppies are. Thanks Sophia.

I dearly hope Daisy's getting a second chance. She looks so sweet and older dogs are often very easy to care for.

Happily noted that Daisy has been rescued,so happy for her,we will all be old one day if we are fortunate to live a long life!!!!!! I have 4 beautiful rescued cats that i love dearly and they were all elderly when i rescued them, they are fun and give so much love and pleasure, its sad that animals get over looked when older, they should be enjoying their twilight years.Thank you for the update.Liz Xx

Thank God that baby made it! Other dog, a GS shown on Examiner wasn't taken....... Situation is critic!!!!!!There are less fosters and people is adopting less!!!!!! CA has an extraordinary group of cross posters/helpers but puppy mills/backyard breeders keep throwing dogs in shelters! Impossible to save all dogs/cats constantly! Donors are those same cross posters/helpers in 98% of the ocasions! People is dry financially and there are no homes opening doors to save animals!
Thank You Sophia. Noted.

Thank you, whoever you are for taking that sweet dog, Daisy. I hope together you may find many happy moments and may Daisy part this Earth, (much later on) knowing that she was loved and never forgotten! Thank you for posting as well!

Bless you whoever you are for taking this precious animal - this sweet little doggie deserves so much more and I just know that she will give you immense joy. You are an amazing animal angel. If is were here in Cape Town, I would have taken her without hesitation and let her live her last remaining years in absolute bliss.

Its not fair that she being in her twilight years is in a shelter, she is waiting for someone to take her home and give her all the love she deserves.

I pray that she has been rescued. Life is not "disposable," and in the end everyone will answer for their lack of love and compassion. Blessings to all who care and try so desperately to save these innocent ones from the hand of death.
