On May 20, following the devastating EF-5 tornado which ripped through Moore, Okla., one dog provided his deceased guardian with one final act of loyalty.

I think many of us were crying and praying as we watched the news. We were hurting with the parents, the teachers, the children and, oh God! the animals.

The update states that the dog's owner was actually alive and was reunited with her! The poor sweet little dog was standing vigil over a deceased person, but not her owner.

Thank you for this post. However, that one makes me thinking. As I read - this dog had luck. But how many won't have that luck? How many pets are being abandoned because of their owners' death? And they don't even understand what happened. When a disaster comes people tend to think about themselves in the first place. Hard to blame on them but I guess more sentisizing could do the trick.

On the news last night I saw Susie as well as many other animals being rescued after the tornado. I think there is more compassion now for animals who have lost their families in natural disasters, and that is a very good thing. I don't know if the deputy is adopting Susie or if she's been returned to her original family but she deserves a good life. For those who can, make a contribution to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society, even if it's small. These disasters stretch the shelters to capacity.

@ Alan - what?! That poor old dog may be lucky and get a new home, but he will be lonely for the rest of his life...

"dogs like these", unlike many people, don't just move on and forget!
Or take suffering so lightly as some of "us" seem to...

Dang, and I sent you a star earlier because you seemed to be getting in touch with your humanity again...*sigh

Noted, tweeted, shared and tweeted. The love of a dog is unconditional; too bad the love of many humans is not.

This is one of the reason why I adore animals. The don't care who you are, rich or poor, good or bad, they just love you inconditionally, they are asking only to stay with you. This creature has been the best friend of his owner till the end. Point is that many times this immense love is not at all reciprocated. Thanks Sophia.
