A report from the Boston Globe on the potentially contagious nature of some types of cancer in humans. Long known to be contagious in some animals, including dogs, researchers are finding contagious cancer can affect humans, too.

So true Cate....How I wish I
was no more than a sparrow!!

The things that will destroy us are:
politics without principle;
pleasure without conscience;
wealth without work;
knowledge without character;
business without morality;
science without humanity;
and worship without sacrifice.

--oh great, another reason to prejudice my wife to oral sex-- If you just found you had cancer that could be passed to another person you came into contact with, how would you get your hug that you needed far more than chemo?

Very interesting read. Now women don't have to have a headache any more..........Sorry guys, just kidding. I guess if one thing doesn't kill you another will, so just live life to the fullest and enjoy it. It seems every time we turn around there is something new we need to avoid. I need my hugs and kisses or I'd be so depressed I'd never get out of bed. Live life and enjoy it!

It is frightening to get cancer from something invisible to the naked eye such as a virus or bacteria. I read that every day cancer cells are destroyed by our immune system surveillance system. I suppose the only answer is a strong immune system based on good nutrition and emotional health. HPV would decrease in a morally strict society based on religion. Kissing spreads a lot of infections. I wonder how the custom started of having to smooch everyone?

Linda.....I've wondered that too. I suppose it is a way of connecting to another human. We kiss animals & I wonder if they sense what it means?

Read this book by Desmond Morris.....The Human Ape. Morris defines & explains all of what we are from a psychological viewpoint. He is a super writer who really understands what makes us do what we do.

Contagious cancer. Why not? We have contagious bacteria that
causes tooth cavities and contagious skin acne. Probably a lot
of other things not normally thought of as contagious are also.
We just haven't really looked into that aspect of it.

Thanks Cate, thought provoking even if a bit scary.

LMAO at what David said, too funny!

I am not going to loose sleep over this one. There is far too much to worry about now to add this to it soooooooooooo...I am gonna live til I die. Like everyone else said, if one thing don't getcha the next thing will, so why loose sleep over it.

I think it's all a conspiracy to keep human beings from connecting to eachother or anything at all. Just my opinion.....

Bottom line just make each day count.
..are we really that surprised with this study..? we pass germs and other viruses through skin contact or air borne contamination...cancer patients on chemo expell some of the drug through their body fluids and some medical personnel actual point out this fact to the patient and their significant partner...as a caretaker that was the last thing I wanted/needed to worry about..and the human touch does just as much( if not more) than the meds to the inflicted person...swapping spit with a person you love sounds pretty damn good...no round trip ticket on this planet so give me my coffee,chocolate,possible contaminated fruits&veggies,wine, love,and a occassional smoke and what will be will be

Yup! oral sex is another way to get hit with cancer! Maybe more guys will be a little more conscious of this danger when they visit "ladies/males of the night". There are many people who think oral sex is not hurting anyone because you can't get pregnant. Here is another fact that is fairly unknown, oral sex can cause a woman's immune system to attack her partners sperm so she cannot become pregnant.

I am not surprised. If it isn't one thing it is another. Yes David, life is terminal. As Lauri said give me my coffee, chocolate and so on. We can not live in fear, that is not living. Live in love and be blessed.

David, ROFLMAO! You bad Oz-Man...and yes, it's another thing NOT to worry about. I still smoke cigarettes, and that's a bigger worry for me right now. I want to quit for my health and my pocketbook but I ENJOY it...waaaaaah!

Cate, if it's not cigarettes, something else will kill us!
Who would have thought discovering a soy allergy nearly killed me!

Contagious Cancer?!
Huh?!
Well, if it's for real, it's
a damned-good thing for me that
I'm a hermit and a recluse.

Cate, cigarettes are the last addiction
I haven't conquered. Haven't even tried
because I'm too much of a craven coward.
I got diagnosed with advanced emphysema
and kept on smoking because I learned that
if a person w/emphysema quits, it will still
get worse, because it's a progressive disease.
I decided I was sick enough with other things
to add nicotine withdrawals to my troubles, so
on I smoke!
As far as the $$$ go, I have a suggestion for
you on that, too.
Roll your own.
Get loose cigarette tobacco and some papers,
and roll your own. Last week, I bought 2 lbs.
of tobacco, 10 pks. of papers, and it cost $39.40.
That will last me three months.

Contagious cancer?
I've got larger things on
my mind these days.
Thanks, Cate! :-))

over 5 years ago Paul Ewald in his book Plague Time said when over 10% of a population has a medical problem it is an EPEDEMIC, not genes or diet; and said that CANCER and HEART Problems are probably GERM CAUSED.
Saw an article a few months ago postulating that cancer is a type of germ but so small that it has evaded infection -- like 50 times cmaller than virus which is 50 times smaller than bacteria.
