Cheney Gets His Wish: No New Regulations for Greenhouse Gases

Environment  (tags: global warming, greenhouse gases, EPA, Environmental Protection Agency, federal regulations )

In its report, the Environmental Protection Agency - gutless wonder that it is - "made no finding" as to the effect of global warming on health. Well, yeah, Cheney wouldn't let the CDC testify about THAT! And GWB thinks regs would cripple our economy.

Bush's lap dog spokesperson, Dana Perino - a woman so young and ignorant she knows ZIP about the history of the world before 1970 - said that Der Fuehrer "is committed to further reductions but that there is a 'right way and a wrong way to deal with climate change.' ''

Supposedly, Bush doesn't want to make energy companies responsible for capping emissions because it will hurt us, the consumer.

MY A** - energy companies shouldn't be allowed to pass on the cost to us in the first place. Energy giants get so many tax breaks and make so much in profits already that they can well afford to spend some of their filthy lucre on cleaning up our air, water and soil.

YES - we desperately need to invest in solar, wind and other forms of renewable energy. But that does NOT mean we should wait 'til we get around to it to start eliminating the sources of the gases now! What is Bush thinking?

Oh, that's right - he doesn't think. He lets Big Dick do it for him.

If these bungling fools had any foresight or thought for the health of the earth and her inhabitants, they'd realize there will be NO economy when all the ice melts and we're either swept away in the following deluge or frying in unchecked sunlight.

That's because Johnson is a piece of crap.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_L._Johnson
Senate confirmation
During his Senate confirmation hearing, Johnson was criticized for his support of using human subjects in pesticide testing. In April, 2005, a hold was placed on his confirmation vote after he refused to cancel the Children's Environmental Exposure Research Study, which advocated recording the effects of pesticides on children from infancy to age 3. On April 8, Johnson canceled the study. His nomination was confirmed by the Senate on April 29.

[edit] Greenhouse gases controversy
Johnson is currently attempting to block the efforts of 17 states to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel economy. He has defended his position by arguing that “The Bush administration is moving forward with a clear national solution, not a confusing patchwork of state rules. I believe this is a better approach than if individual states were to act alone.” However, the state rules he is blocking are more stringent than the Bush administration's proposed national solution.[1] Johnson came under investigation for allowing the White House to improperly interfere with the decision to grant California a waiver to limit greenhouse gases. The investigation began when it became known that, prior to a series of communiques with the Bush administration, Johnson had planned on granting California the waiver. Johnson has refused to comment on his talks with the White House, and has ignored subpoenas for relevant documents. On May 20, 2008, Johnson was questioned for three hours by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The Committee Chair, Henry Waxman (D-CA), said "You have essentially become a figurehead....The president apparently insisted in his judgment and overrode the unanimous recommendations of EPA scientific and legal experts. You reversed yourself after having candid conversations with the White House."[2]

Johnson's stance on this and other issues was criticized by the scientific journal Nature, which charged him with acting in "reckless disregard for law, science or the agency's own rules — or, it seems, the anguished protests of his own subordinates."[3]

On February 29, 2008, four labor unions representing most of the EPA's professional staff published an open letter to Johnson, complaining that he had ignored the EPA's official Principles of Scientific Integrity in advancing Bush Administration positions on water fluoridation, pesticide regulation, mercury emissions, and greenhouse gas control.[3]

It appears that our current administration is more interested in pandering to it's check-writing supporters. Big surprise (sarcasm)!

Cheney, is delusional, to say the least,..

I know you don't believe in "God" Cate,, but Cheney knows whats coming his way.

- God takes no pleasure in death to sinners, and Cheney, is (a sinner)

- Wicked men, and women, flatter themselves, with hopes of escaping punishment, till it actually comes upon them.

- or even, Instant Karma, better get yourself together, pretty soon your
going to be dead.

.. and cheney knows he ain't coming back.. Back in Black,.. NOT

The EPA is inept, corrupt, and doesn't know their rear from a hole in the ground. They should not be making envirmentally impacting decisions-especially when it seems they make those decisions based on how much money is being waved in their face at the time.... and don't even get me started on Dick Cheney!!

Pat Woertz, is the EPA, believe it,

The only thing stopping them from getting organic fertilizer, is the
Patricia Woertz(ADM), owned E.P.A.,
and the Patricia Woertz(ADM), owned AAPFCO (Association of American Plant Food Control Officials).

- Our American dealer, has spent about 2 years fighting against, .. this

===
an old comment of mine,....

The American people would love to go organic,... the only thing stopping them,

is being able to get the stuff(organic fertilizer).
The only thing stopping them from getting organic fertilizer, is the
Patricia Woertz(ADM), owned E.P.A.,
and the Patricia Woertz(ADM), owned AAPFCO (Association of American Plant Food Control Officials).

No legal jurasdiction what.so.ever, but still able to control, and delay everything,(as in the USA gov)

We were here...AAPFCO.presentation...after about a 2 year wait..

February, 2008 It’s with our heartfelt thanks, for the priceless help she has given us, to prepare for the AAPFCO (Association of American Plant Food Control Officials) presentation. Dr. Elaine Ingham has dedicated her life, to you, and future generations of the Earth. The founder of the world renowned, Soil Food Web Laboratories, www.soilfoodweb.com, both President and Director of Research at Sustainable Studies Inc. Dr. Ingham is recognized, as one of the leading soil scientists of our time. She has pioneered research, into the understanding of soil organisms, and the role that healthy soil management plays in the ultimate success, of all present, and future crops, needed for our survival. Dr. Ingham is the primary author of the Soil Biology Primer. Dr Ingham has several laboratories around the world where growers can send samples for independent assessment.

Dr. Elaine Ingham, founder of the world renowned, Soil Food Web Laboratories, www.soilfoodweb.com, says there is (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium: N-P-K), in our stuff, of course, all organic things, have NPK.

... we have to wait another 6 months, till August for the next AAPFCO (Association of American Plant Food Control Officials) presentation,

- and then they will tell us, ... after ADM(synthetic-corn(poison),amino acids), gets immediate approval, and delays our presentation, so there's not enough time left,.. can you come back, in like about six months, and actually prove, that there are NPK's in Agrogreen.
...
- USA, could have been completely Organic, and Toxic Chemical Free,
..2 years ago, just from our stuff, let alone, everyone else this happens to.

... oh yes... everyone else can use it but American's

When GW was governor of Texas, Houston became the most polluted city in the entire country. So, he continues with his don't give a damn policies, which is no surprise. McCain is no better.

Will Cheney do his post-election 'vanishing trick' after the new Obama regime moves in?.. What is a ventriloquist without a dummy?...Surely he will evaporate back into the realm of 'corporate domination' (again)...NO decision is the RIGHT decision for these two...History will not slight them for getting it WRONG...Consequently if Obama misses the bus, and screws it up, Dubya et al.will not be judged STUPID! ??? :)

Denial is NOT just a river in Egypt!...

Iggorentlee unaware of the Obama policy on global warming but does he need the EPA?...And if he doesn't 'get it right', and soon, there won't be anyone left to worry about anything anyway...

Potted plants? :) Should, on the other hand, Obama save the planet he'll come out smelling like roses?...

Well, as Sonny and Cher would say "And the beat goes on". Certainly nothing new with our administration prefering to be blind, deaf and dumb right up until the last minute to put plenty of bucks in their friends pockets! A note to Care2ers: we Texans do not love Bush. Another great article, Cate, thanks. And, Ariel, that Cree Prophecy is mind bending.
