The FDA is initiating quarterly listings of pharmaceuticals it's investigating. There will be a list every three months on the FDA website. Of course, it will give us only partial info so as not to tick off Big Pharma, but it's probably worth checking.

The FDA is responding, in it's half-assed way, to complaints from doctors, patients and drug companies. They'll tell us they're investigating, but not the number of complaints, from whom or the magnitude of each issue. Oh well...better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Of course,if this idiot agency did its job in the FIRST place, a lot of this after-checking could be avoided, along with a lot of adverse reactions, long-term effects and recalls.

Here's a link to the first quarterly report: Potential Signals of Serious Risks/New Safety Information Identified by the Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS) January - March 2008 Pretty hifalutin' report title, ain't it?

I said it before and I'll say it again. I don't trust anything from the FDA and they are nothing but a bunch of idiots.

Thank you for posting this important news, Cate. Yes, definitely better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Thanks for posting. Any drug has side effects and any drug used incorrely is going to be very dangerous. In test studies, you have to report if you get the sniffles which have nothing to do with the drug. It's just a plain old cold. It's crazy and I do wish we could trust that what we are given for whatever is a-ok. Some doctors are unaware of the drug interactions. Now that scares me.

It seems like any more when they come out with a new drug, the side affect are more deadly then the symtom you are trying to cure. I use to take cymbalta I am glad they took me off of it and they put me on something I am not sure what it was and neither was the doctors but my whole body broke out in hives for almost a week so they took me off everything even the stuff that makes the hives stop itching that was terrible. thank God for bendedryl and calamine lotion. Drugs are dangerous period to some extent.

The FDA will name the drug and the nature of the "adverse events" but will not describe their seriousness or the number of complaints received, officials said yesterday. Being on the list does not mean the drug is unsafe, only that the FDA is looking into that possibility.

Obviously, the FDA is not going to step on the toes
of Big Pharma, for whom they ultimately work. Once again,
We The People get screwed by an agency which is supposed
to be looking out for our best interest and well-being.
Thanks, Cate.

The Faux Drug Association (FDA) will begin its annual lemmings "over the cliff" routine.
To sign up, go to "Drugs Are Us" and Other Great Products, such as "Bag O Glass" for 7 and under....

I deal with them so I better not use my name or picture ROFLOL!!!!!!!

Ditto, Joycey.
I worked at a Home Health Care Agency, and you would not believe all the pharmaceutical drugs ONE senior citizen might be on. PAGES of "med sheets" !New drug out ? Most of them would be on it "stat". Poor things, a lot of them were on drugs now being "looked into". Big, BIG money, people. Which means the interests of the industry will most likely continue to prevail over the health interests of the people, unless ________(please fill in the blank).
