Study: Extinction Debt Accumulated By Deforestation In Amazon

Now a study recently published in the journal Science indicates that despite decades of severe deforestation, the full brunt of the effects have not yet been felt. According to the study, eighty to ninety percent of the species likely to go extinct.....

Rainforests are precious for all of us. If we don’t take action to protect rainforests and to encourage rainforest nations to continue to develop without deforestation, we could lose another 100 million hectares of tropical forests over the next 10 years – an area the size of Egypt.

We must save the biodiversity both for its sake and for the health - mental, physical and spiritual we can gain from it. We will be immensely impoverished if we lose this biodiversity.
