Since the introduction of the Guidelines, animal accidents, illnesses and deaths on set have sharply declined. Our Certified Animal Safety Representatives(TM) apply the Guidelines on the more than 2,000 productions per year that we monitor

Thank you Jill, you would think with computerized system now that no animals will ever be harmed again, but sadly that is not the case and why I will not be going to watch the Hobbit at all.

How folks can seem to think it acceptable to harm animals in the name of entertainment these days is beyond me. Wish the animal treatment rating was posted with the viewer's rating. Would make a difference in what movies I pay to see--not that I go to see that many movies, but it would make a difference.

Animals are NOT actors!! They should not be used in any form of human entertainment.
With the computer technology available today, there is no need to use any animals in films.

After reading about the Hobbit there should be new laws regarding animals in movies It would not happen to actors because it would not be allowed but again humans only see them as animals and they dont have the same worth Its time they did

Except, of course, for "Luck", "The Hobbit," et cetera...Animals still seem allowed to be harmed and killed even with today's rules. At least the amount being harmed has gone down, even though it would be better if none were harmed at all for mere entertainment!
