Last week the 16th Conference of the Parties to CITES came to an end and the question on everyones lips is; what measures did they take to protect elephants?

Oh this is so frustrating! They could help elephants if they wanted to - each time there have been 'one-off' sales of ivory then poaching has increased - and it is at a tremendously high level anyway - so WHY don't they DO something! Argh!!!

Thanks Jill. I agree with Pat. All of this uncertainty is frustrating and yes, why don't they do something right for a change.

Frustrating doesn't begin to describe it...
The fear of what the future holds is palatable, and it seems as if those that hold the power to act don't feel it.

When I got the newsletter, the news that 5 species of sharks were now "safe", and then this news of more inaction on behalf of elephants, imho the $$$ signs were on red flags waving right in our faces.
Greed will be the end of all. .. thanks Jilli

I guess when you get blood money, you don't care. We need to protect these gentle giants. It makes me sick.

What I don't understand is why the iWorry petition saying "NO to ivory" presented to the Secretary General of CITES only had around 40,000 signatures...poor effort... why such a low number?

Noted, tweeted, tweeted, shared shared and very sad. What's wrong with us. We know the elephant will go extinct in ten years and yet we have no plan to save them. Sometimes, I think these greedy nuts believe that JURASSIC PARK is not fiction. Got news for you; it is fiction, and if you saw the movie, it didn't work.
