I am putting this story out for a dear friend of Mine that lives about 30 miles away from me who desperately is in need of some Financial Assistance in helping her to pay her remaining Veternarian bill for her six year old female Rottweiler - "Luci."

The amount still owed out of the origional $1096.00 Veternarian Bill is just $346.00.

Luci is a 6yr. old full-blooded female Rottweiler who suddenly became sick over several days time about a month or so ago. She had become Lathargic, was not eating, was drastically losing weight and had puss and blood coming out of her.

My friend is presently unemployed now due to a lay off and she goes to school full time, tends to a disabled husband at home as well
as her daughter and granddaughter who just recently came back home due to some financial issues which caused her to give up her apartment and move back in with mom. My friend also suffers from severe health issues and is often times in a lot of pain and they are presently getting by on
her husbands small disability check. Fortunately the house they live in was donated to them thru a death in the family or they would be homeless, but they are so many of us are.

In desperation and fearing for Luci's life - my friend took her Rottweiler to the Vets Emergency Hospital where it was later found out the Luci had a condition called Pyometra (simular to Endometriosis in women) and often times comes on female dogs that are over six years of age who have never been spayed. It is an extremly painful condition for a dog to have to deal with.

The Veternarian ended up having to perform an emergency hysterectomy on Luci. Even tho the Veternarian's Policy states that they do not accept
payments and the bill has to be paid in full at the time of service, they were more than willing to accept the first payment of $750.00 but there is now no money left to pay the remaining balance of $346.00 especially after getting laid off from work.

My friend has tried to make them a payment since then, but they wouldn't accept it from her which is odd. What person refuses money being paid to their business on their bill? Yet, they are now taking my friend
to court (just less than a month after the Emergency Precudure) for the remaining balance of $346.00 andshe has already been served those papers.

I personally spoke today with the Accounting Office Manager named Sheril to set up a fund for my friend to help her pay her Vet bill off and they were more than willing to do accept payments on the
account from total strangers, but yet they will not accept my friends payment. This is totally rediculious!

Please, please, please if you can help at friend needs it as she has too much on her plate to have to spend time taking away from her school as well as her disabled husband, daughter & granddaughter to
have to be bothered with going to court. She has been using this Veternarian for about 10yrs and I just do not understand them not wanting to work with her on this. It's not like this is a large amount of money
and the time that they spend sending one of their own representatives to go to court to present the case, paying to have court papers drawn up against my friend for non-payment .....well that money could just
better be used to help other animals that need their help.

Nancy Bellemore is not a care2 member as there is absolutely no time left in her busy schedule to put anything else on her plate...for now, but she is an avid animal lover and just a couple of months ago rescued a pup herself from a neglectful & abusive situation. The pup has sence found it's home.

You can reach Nancy Bellemore personally at her e-mail address of: if you have further questions that the Vets. Office cannot answer, but do understand that it may take a bit for her to get back with you in answering your questions.

We appreciate your help as well as her family does and her pup Luci.

Sending a Green Star is a simple way to say "Thank you"

You cannot currently send a star to Catherine because you have done so within the last week.

Hey Catherine.....I thought that you were the one who put it up! I didn't as I couldn't figure out what to put for the URL as it wasn't a news story took from somewhere els like Alternet. Hum! Very Interesting! I got a little angel out there that is remaining anonomyous. Thank you whoever you are!

I would think that this would take too long as it is not that much money but it can be donated to her PayPal Account or Directly to her Vet ...which would probably be better. But however it gets done!

It was so selfless of you to take time out to help Nancy Bellemore when you have so much going on in your own life right now.

What questions do you have regarding the Plea for financial help? I know most of the story as Nancy comes to visit me at least once a week and I have been going thru this ordeal with her. I am the one that talked to the Accounting Debt. (while Nancy was sitting in my apartment) to get the information needed to set up the story.

I also talked with them about payment arangements and all and what had been paid and what was still owed on the account and to help set up the Nancy Bellemore Fund - Luci with them.

Just let me know if I can answer any of your questions.

I think that Nancy has finally set up a care2 account but she is trying to figure out how to work it now. I was trying to explain it to her over the phone and I think that we have some of the Notification setting and all set up now. Here is her page:

ok. i was able to pay by credit card over the phone, however, people should wait until monday and do it through the office manager. i had the receptionist do it, but it's really not her job. also, dusty, be sure to tell nancy to get that $350 check back. if people put money on the account, they shouldn't cash that check.

Dusty, among other questions regarding that fund and the Vet's peculiar behaviour, firstly HOW IS LUCI doing?
There was NO word on her condition after that surgery,- one that would require long term antibiotics afterwards to get out the toxins left by the bacteria from the infection.
In your message you wrote "...the lady that had the Rottweiler", - HAD?

Aimee A (177)
Saturday June 23, 2012, 2:51 pm
Wish I could help. I still owe a good friend over $350 in vet bills for my cat, Sabby, who was very near death. If not for my good friend loaning me the money to get her into the second vet that she visited upon falling ill (for a second opinion), my Baby Bear Sabby would be dead right now. I hope that Luci is doing well, though, and my heart goes out to Luci & her mom. Wish vets would have mercy in cases like these.

Dusty D (113)
Saturday June 23, 2012, 2:54 pm
The Rottweiler is doing okay and is on an antibiotic as well as trammadol for pain. The surgery was about a month or so ago when Nancy was still working before everyone got laid off of their jobs. She was not needing anyone's help until after she lost her job and was then owing the remainder of the vet bill. As far as the women who had the Rottie before....she passed away about 10 months ago (I believe) and the dog was shifted back and forth between family members while they decided what to do with the dog. Nancy stepped up to the plate and took the dog rather than see it go to the pound and then who knew what would happen. Hope this answers your question.

Dusty D (113)
Saturday June 23, 2012, 3:22 pm
Good point Catherine and I just talked with her on the phone and read your comment to her about the $350.00 for which there is no money in the bank to cover. I told her to call the vets and ask them to give her that check back being that donations ARE being made into her account. I told her that if they are not willing to give her the check back to then go to the bank and have them put a stop payment on that check. It might cost her $15 to do so but that is better than paying bad check fees to the bank as well as bad check fees to the Veternarian and them taking her to court also for bad check.

Dusty D (113)
Saturday June 23, 2012, 3:25 pm
Thank you Catherine for your donation. It is much appreciated! As well as any one else who has donated. I think that I have already thanked you all by e-mail....or at least I hope that I have. Nancy is getting ready to come onto the site and try to get to this page. She is NEW to all of this so you can direct your questions to her or to me if you do not get a timely reply.

Just spread the word around Aimee...we all do what we can do whether it is spreading the word or making donations. It all comes together to make the magic work. Hope that you little cat Sabby is doing okay now and healing nicely. Will keep you and Sabby in my prayers. Thanks for your hekp!

Hello My name is Nancy and my dog's is Luci. I want to thank everyone who has commented on the story and donated for Luci. I would like for everyone to know Luci is doing well and is on antiboctics and Tramadol for her pain. I am still taking her out on a leash to prevent and infections from laying on the ground. We do have a fenced in yard for her when she is able to get out there. Luci is a house dog so do not think she has to stay out there she has become a family member and fits in wonderfully.
I am sorry if you called the Vet but that is what Sheril (the office manger) said to do,that anyone could handle it up at the vets office that is.
Dusty your an amazing person to help out with this I will talk to you later. Thank you all again and if I can I will answer any question you have. Nancy

Dusty D (113)
Saturday June 23, 2012, 5:43 pm
Hey everyone.....just a thought.

When you make a donation to Nancy thru PayPal...Nancy actually gets a e-mail copy of how much the donation was.

When you pay directly to the Vet....Nancy has no record of how much or who donated to the Vets and all she has to go on is their word and their honesty.

Please, if you make a donation directly to the Vets, please if you can let Nancy know who you are and how much you donated so that we may keep the Veternarian Office accountable and hones as well.

If Nancy has no idea how much was donated.....they can say anything or even lose the transaction by mistake.

Noted. It's disgusting that this poor lady is being dragged into court; it would make more sense for the vet to arrange a payment plan, to repay the amount in smaller sums over time; by dragging the matter into court it seems like the vet is just trying to squeeze more money out of the issue.

Dusty D (113)
Sunday June 24, 2012, 11:17 am
Just so we are clear on this as I have had some questions thrown my way by way of e-mail.....

When Nancy wrote the post dated check for the remaining balance of $350 she told the

Vets at that time, "not to cash it until June 25th, 2012 as there is not any money in the bank

right now to cover it" being that she had just wrote them a check for $750 and that took every

bit of the money that she had left in the bank. She was expecting to have another work check

in her hands and in the bank by then to cover that postdated check but two days later.....she got

laid off so there is only a check coming for about a days work which needs to go towards her

house bills. She doesn't make much money and the job that she had was only a part time job

because she was going to school full time plus taking care of her family and disabled husband

who just had a serious heart operation about the same time as the dog "Luci" got sick. If I

have my story right, Nancy did call the Vets office to see if they could hold off on cashing

the post-dated check on June 25th, and they told her that, "they couldn't hold it any longer and

that they had an agreement between them and she signed some kind of contract with them" also

about the payment of the services rendered to her and her dog. They then proceeded to tell

her that if the money was not in the bank when they submit it that they would take her to court

for recovery of the balance still owed. She asked the Vets if she could give them a few bucks on

the bill and more later on - and they wouldn't work with her on it. So I guess that tomorrow

on Monday June 25th, they are going to go ahead and deposit that check of Nancy's KNOWING

that there is no money in the account to cover it. What a pity that they are treating her like that.

I explained to them that they weren't being very professional about all of this as they were

accepting her payments even tho they state that they don't allow payments to be made on an

account and then you want to use the fear intimidation against Nancy to try to produce money

where there is none and it's not like Nancy is trying to get out of paying.....she just needs

a little extension of her time to pay it.

It would not be wise of the Vets to try to say that they do not have her check as it is logged

in her bank logging book and if they tried to cash it then that would show up. They can't deny

that they are not receiving any money on Nancy's account behalf as there are Receipts of

Payments & donations made from PayPal that Nancy could use as her proof plus anyone

who uses a credit card to make a donation to that Vets will cause them a great amount of

grief if the monies that they have donated to the account of Nancy Bellmore - Luci are not

deposited and applied into that account as that would clearly show fraudulent activities on

the Vets side. So Nancy and I are both keeping an account of who donated what and how

much by way of PayPal as well as those that made donations by way of credit card also so

that we may acquire proof of those payments to the Vets. Office and on Nancy Bellemore's

account .....if need be, in court or whatever and they could be charged and arressted and shut

down. We are keeping records of everything coming and going.

So I hope this answers your questions to your comments.

Love and Hugs,

Sorry for the way that this is typed out as it wasn't written that way in that format. Something screwed up!

Dusty D (113)
Sunday June 24, 2012, 12:22 pm
@ Mignone Borg Catania = Just curious.........what did you SIGN? There was no petition linked to this story. Honestly now, you were just trying to get the butterfly credits now weren't you? You might try reading a story before you just put out a comment, 'SIGNED" especially when there is NOTHING to sign. That tells me a lot about who you are as a person because you don't read what it is that you are noting and you could be noting a story or Petition that is a bad petition and actually does more harm to people, the animals, Society, etc. We don't need so-called activist like this who don't observe or read what it is that they are standing behind.

Sorry if I am offending anyone on here with this comment but it just urks my butt when people do this sort of thing and then call themselves "Activist". Grrrrrrr!

Catherine Turley (192)
Sunday June 24, 2012, 12:24 pm
at this point, they really can't cash that check because it would be double dipping, having already accepted additional money on her account. legally, i think it would fall under 'unjust enrichment'. throw that phrase at them and see what they do, if they threaten you again.

Catherine Turley (192)
Sunday June 24, 2012, 12:30 pm
i was just thinking that they might cash that check knowing that it won't be covered, thereby creating a problem for nancy and not actually becoming enriched since it will bounce. does the paypal money become readily available to cover the check? if so, i will send the difference to nancy right now, so that they screw themselves if they do go ahead and cash it. she can pay me back $5 a week or whatever.

Dusty D (113)
Sunday June 24, 2012, 12:58 pm
No Catherine....PayPal sends her a receipt immediately when money is sent but the actual money can take anywhere from 5-10 days to actually get into her bank account where it can be used. At this point in time we have the amount of $74.00 in donations out of the Origional Amount of $350.00 owed.

Catherine T. = $25.00
Angelika = $10.00
Ronnie G. = $10.00
Trish G. = $29.00
Total $74.00 (Leaving $276.00 still remaining.)

If you are willing to do this Catherine, could you call the Vets tomorrow EARLY (they open at 8:00am) and make that payment of $276.00 to the Vets by way of Credit Card and then I will take the responsibility of making sure that you get your money back? I was going to give Nancy most of that remaining balance owed when I got paid on the Third, but was waiting to see if any donations came in so it wouldn't be such a hardship on me to do and also was concerned that the Vets would not be willing to wait until the 3rd of next month being they are being so uncoorapritave. Let me know! Dusty

Unjust enrichment means that one party was enriched wrongfully at the expense of another party. While some states do not allow unjust enrichment as a cause of action by itself, states that do, and Federal Law, generally adhere to the requirement that the following factors be proved for a case of unjust enrichment:

1. An enrichment

2. An impoverishment

3. A connection between enrichment and the impoverishment

4. Absence of a justification for the enrichment and impoverishment

5. An absence of a remedy provided by the law

Elaine Al Meqdad (283)
Sunday June 24, 2012, 1:05 pm
Noted! One things for sure, they can't take her to court until it goes to collections! Especially if she had a pre- arranged agreement to make payments. That would be changing the rules in the middle of the game.....NOT LEGAL! As that is rescinding on previously set up contract. Plus, she has to be delinquent on her contract by X amount of days, which can generally range from either 30, 60 or 90 days, before it even goes to collections. Then at that point, she can contact the collections agency and offer up a lower payment to satisfy the debt without paying the full amount. Yes it will affect her credit but, in all honesty, my attitude is that the Government put so many people out of work and unable to pay their bills and ability to save for a rainy day that I can guarantee that they can threaten a suit all they want and guess how much that is going to cost them....You got it! A hell of a lot more than the balance owed! Then think logically that it's pretty damn hard getting blood out of a turnip!. An outstanding bill ALWAYS, if chosen by the Individual/s owed, has to go to a collections agency first! As this is the best way that anyone in business stands a better chance of recouping the amount owed. But again, you as the debtor has every legal right to arrange a payoff at a lesser fee to absolve the issue with an collection agency...Then find yourself another vet, as it is apparent that these people have no compassion towards you and especially your dog (Their Patient). They are completely in the business for what appears to be all the wrong reasons! God Bless her and her pup and all our prayers are with you but trust me, DO NOT be intimidated by these people in any manner period!

if nancy weren't in such a stressful situation already, i might tell her to stick it to them. however, for the sake of her health and well-being, i just want to get this over with. the vets only have $25 right now, unless one of those other donors paid through the office. so, i need to make a payment of $325. i don't know if they're open, but i'd rather try now.

Here goes a huge golden star to Catherine as I'm out of green.
And I am also very glad for what Elaine said, she took the words right out of my mouth. Only, as a German I'm in no position to comment your system over there, but I do know that what she says is the way things work over here. Plus you will have dunning before any collections come to play. It is crystal clear they are intimidating her, one more reason for final goodbye to that Vet.

Whooooo Hooooo, now that's what I'm talking about! Thank you, thank you, thank you Catherine. This is a big relief off of my sholders and I know that this is a major relief off of Nancy's. I just talked to her as she was in her car driving to school as she has a class at 10:00am - 11:00am and then she is going to go to the Veternarians office and pick up the check. When I read your "All Paid" comment to her.....Nancy had to pull the car over to the side of the road as she was crying so hard in the burden being let off of her and the fact that total strangers would step up to the plate and help her out with this. She's used to going thru everything pretty much alone and by herself and is definately not used to anyone helping her and this just ROCKS her world that you all would be so kind as to step up to the plate and help her with "Luci" dog. .......and why is this so totally awesome......because YOU ALL ROCK! ! ! ! Yeeee Haaaa!

I wish that I knew how to write a complaint agaisn't this Veternarians Office and how they run things ... not to mention the Tech. who claimed (and even wrote down on Luci's char) that he had took Luci's temperature and even recorded her temperature on her record and had not even come nto the examination room and took Luci's temperature. When Nancy heard from the Veternarian what the temp. was on her dog she questioned him as to how he knew what the temp. was and no one had even come in there and spoke to them yet.....much less, took the dogs temp. When the Vet. got wind of that the Vet. then found out that there had been several complaints simular to this one on this Technician.....and the Vet. fired him. I think that if I was the Vets. Office, I would have been treating Nancy with "Kit" gloves after the way that she was treated by that Technician instead of trying to intimidate her the way that they did. They shoud have worked with her or wrote the bill off out of fear of Nancy reporting their clinic. Nancy said that she would like to report them also NOW but she doesn't know how to go about doing this any more than I do. Anybody want to take it on??????

i'm telling you those review sites are becoming more and more important to businesses. it looks from yelp and something called judy reviews (i think that's it) that the doctor is good but the staff is lousy and he is out of touch with what goes on between staff and clients.

Oh Catherine what a relief this is for me I am thanking you and if I had a ton of gold stars I would send them to you. When I called this morning and got Sheril she was so snobby she did not even know that CA's time was 3 hours different and question me why someone would get up at that early for this I said to make a payment and she said your note was on her door from yesterday and did she need to call you "Well I would as she is not going to stop calling you."
I have never been in this situation before have always done for my pets or I would not have them period.I even laid on the floor with Luci to comfort her after she got back home following all instructions that were given for her!! Again Thank you your my angel Dusty can't leave you out either thank you for all you have done getting your friends to help me and Luci.

Found This Interesting Review Regarding Nancy's Veternarian, "North Davidson Veternarian Hospital" in Welcome, N.C.

Rebecca W., Friday, July 23, 2010
This review is for: North Davidson Veterinary Hosp

Good: Dr Schmunk is a great caring vet. Bad: the staff, unless you are best friends with someone who works there, you will not get seen.. EMERGENCY WISE..... Improvements: TEACH YOUR STAFF TO KNOW AN EMERGENCY, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE CALLED AHEAD OF TIME.. Other: Dr. Schmunk is a great vet, hands down.. BUT IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY, DO NOT GO HERE!!!! THE PEOPLE HE HAS WORKING FOR HIM WILL NOT, I REPEAT WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE EMERGENCY. My Rotty was snake bitten and was lathargic and we were told we would just have to wait our turn. We even called before going.. They knew we were coming. We left and went to High Point Vet, Dr. Sink... They took her right back. She would have died if we had waited for the staff to get the Doctor out there for us!!!. "

God Bless Luci and I hope she gets the money needed for her care. I annually give to 16 animal organizations and am way behind in my donations because money it tight, so I can't give, but will offer a prayer for Luci..

You got it, Dusty! :) I'll spread the word as far & wide as I can. It's good to hear that Luci is coming along well on her antibiotics and pain meds. I will definitely keep Nancy & Luci in my prayers. As for the Bear, she's still eating (as long as I give her a different kind of canned food every day - picky! LOL!) and drinking her water too. Her litter box seems to be in order, as well. This month I messed up, though, & thought her too sick for her Revolution. (Also I have her isolated in a 4 foot tall cage with plush benches to monitor her closely.) So, now she has either fleas or ear mites. She's scratched a bald spot on the top of her head, but I talked to the vet on the phone today & they said that she can have her Revolution. Had my husband pick some up today & will put it on her tonight after work. Thank you for all of your kind words. I'm certain that your well wishes are making their way to her & are the reason for her recovery.

A Story was submitted not to long ago as to whether or not care2 was a Scam and here is what I have to say about this:

I know one thing....if care2 is a scam, it is a scam that I love. I have been on here for many years and all in all I can think of only 3 a_ _holes that were ever a problem and rude out of the

19,629,941 members doing good. Ha!

I question some things about how care2 is run and even occassionally wonder whether the clicks work or they don't and I have even been upset with them for not deleting post or comments that keep getting constantly "Flagged" or not responding back when you have a support issue as quickly as I would have them to....or not at all! All of the little gliches and not being able to delete a message or send on.... But what I do know, is that I have never seen the amount of compassion and willingness on ANY site that members have for one another here and the desire to be of support whether it be with prayers, lighting a candle, posting, blogging, setting up PayPal or One Click for someone, helping you submit a story, forwarding mail, downloading pictures or sending money to help. Scammers take with NO thought of the damage that it does to the individual mentally, emotionally or financially but thru all of the "Minor" nuaiuances that one has to deal with on this site or on any other (for that matter) care2 is the best of all of them. You cannot get rid of me as I am here to stay!
