IDA has just learned that an agreement has been signed between Will Davenport and the USDA, in which Davenport has agreed to turn Queenie over to the San Antonio Zoo. Please sign the petition to ask for reconsideration and to let her go to a sanctuary.

My friend has worked and worked to try to get Queenie into a sanctuary. PAWS offered to take her. But that option was never brought to the table. Davenport either had to give her up to the San Antonio Zoo or face fines and charges. The exhibit where Queenie will live is less than 1/2 an acre in size. Compare that to acres and acres where she could roam in a sanctuary. Please help by signing and sharing the petition. Thank you all so much!

In British Army slang the term US means unsrvicable or useless! Adding DA to it changes nothing!

Must adjust that spell check, "Unserviceable" or I will have to be described as US!

The petition is on

You're right Lucky. How can they do that? It's so unfair to both Lucky and Queenie! They both are kind of well, bossy. So to force them together into a small enclosure is cruel. I know people who have been working to get Jewel and Queenie and another elephant away from Davenport. The USDA took 2 and left Queenie with him. This really sucks big time! I am so upset with this decision!

I don't belong to Facebook, I don't trust it. Did it say if any actions are being taken with Davenport? Once Queenie has been moved, then we work to get them both out of there to Paws. The USDA has not heard the last of this. We must keep fighting for them, they deserve it.

Guess that gives substance to the old saying, "between a rock and a hard place" now doesn't it. I have a feeling that there is more to this latest (report) than is being made public. I hope someone can get to the bottom of it and that Queenie will have a genuine new beginning--instead of a sad ending.

I have written many letters to Shea stating firmly Queenie should be in a SANCTUARY!.. a bit of a mixed blessing,, at least she is away from DAvenoport and the threat of being 'used' again in a circus! .. but a concrete floor in a ZOO?.. NO WAY!.. I'm in Canada and can't sign the petition, but will write ANOTHER letter to the USDA to express my dismay at this gutless half way decision for Queenie.. MAN! THIS IS ANGERING!!!

Oh my God! I can't believe they are doing this to Queenie after trying to get her in a sanctuary! And I live here in San Antonio. I feel so sorry for her. She needs to be where she has room to roam!

If you want to do more here are some ideas:

Can this be stopped ? What can you do?

My answer is yes there is time still to act, But we must act quickly, Queenie is not here yet, ultimately the USDA made this choice they can reverse it. We must act before she is here, On Monday am please call the office the Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and ask that the settlement agreement be reversed and Queenie be diverted to Sanctuary, she was accepted at Paws a fact the USDA is fully aware of, and sadly the owner's preference. This was not the outcome he wished for her.

For whatever reasons his wishes and that of the American people as well as the voices across the globe have been overlooked and a poor choice made. Ask them to reconsider this choice and do what is right by her on Monday.

Queenie has been offered a home with the PAWS Elephant Sanctuary in San Andreas, California by Pat Derby and Ed Stewart. What is the problem? Why is the San Antonio Zoo even considered? Sounds very political to me - and the pawn is Queenie - who clearly desreves better. Shame on the powers that made this terrible decision. Not too late - REVERSE IT!!!!!!!!

Petition signed. This is terrible. Queenie deserves peace and comfort, not a house of concrete with people staring at you all day. Thanks Robin L. for the information. I will definately be calling and e-mailing these people.

Thanks Lucky. I heard Queenie is already there. They are calling her Boo. Bob Barker has stepped in and told the government they will never have to pay one cent for Queenies care if they will let her go to PAWS. We are all still fighting for her!

Queenie doesn't need a home of concrete walls and floors with people stareing at her all day. She has paid her dues. We need to keep pressing to have her go to PAWS.
