Sweet Chloe was used as a "bait dog" in Miami and has suffered tremendously! This is the actual picture of Chloe. Can you please spare a few dollars? I can vouch for this rescue.

So much of the time there is nothing we can do to save an animal. With Chloe you can help. Please can you spare just a few dollars? One or two dollars would really help this poor soul. She deserves our prayers & our help if you can spare it. I'm not asking without giving, I sent 20 dollars, I don't have a credit card (you think they give those things to people like me:) I'll get the mailing address for those like me. My husband says I think everything is an emergency:) But this really is. NO, I didn't tell him:)

In case anyone here hasn't used a Chip-In before, the payment you make is made securely through PayPal and it's like any other PayPal transaction. So you don't have to give out a credit card number or anything (if you have a PayPal account, of course.)

Haven't worked since 2008, but had to make a donation for this angel. If it means going without a few meals, then we owe it to our animal sisters and brothers to do so.

Thank you, no problem. Normally, I only donate to particular organizations that help wildlife and further account for their spending, but since it's you Kathy, I will try to donate through the website Catherine posted. Thank you for posting. If not, I'll come back.

Here's my question, Kathy. I went to their website, and it's their rescue, will this money go to Chloe, or it doesn't matter? Just put it out.

Well, I just donated to the rescue, it didn't state anything about a particular dog when donating using a CC through their site, unless you were paying by check then you could write the name of the dog on the check. I am sure they will use my pittance well.

Constance F (418)
Tuesday July 19, 2011, 11:02 pm
Ok, last post. I did not see what Catherine wrote, so pay attention unlike me. However; if you miss the place that says message to seller, when you donate, you will get a receipt with Heidi's Legacy email, so I sent them an email requesting what dog donation was for.

Thanks Kathy.

We just started fostering two 12 year old dogs that had to leave their long time home due to a change in the owners life etc. They are both so sweet and shy due to the new surroundings most likely. The one is shy by nature and she is the older by a few months and not in the best of health. Both were abused from an early age but adopted by the owner when puppies..I say their owner as she really is their owner even though they will probably spend the rest of their days living with us.

We are doing all that we can to get both in better health so funds are being used for that now. Wish we could donate to this and so many other animal 'emergencies' :-) but we just can't at this time.

Stelizan L (258)
Wednesday July 20, 2011, 2:00 am
Jae, I'm sure Chloe will appreciate our thoughts and prayers if we are unable to donate any money at this time - just hope and pray things go the 'same way' for her as for the homeless man and his doggie, then Chloe will be sorted within the day even if donations arrive at $1 a time!!! Andrea I know how you feel, we're all humane beings (and we DON'T belong to the human race!!); we've got 2 foster doggies over 2 years already, only received money for their food the first 5 months, and our neighbours moved out leaving their cat behind, but somehow all of us go to bed at night having had sufficient to eat - hubby actually commented over the weekend that the cat now looks in better form than ever!!

@ Constance F. - This particular ChipIn was dedicated to Chloe, and it is called "Saving Chloe". If you donated by going to the link and following the instructions, it will not matter if you didn't write a message as this effort is all for Chloe's vet bills etc. See below, where I have copied and pasted my online receipt.

ChipIn Event Title: Saving Chloe
ChipIn Event Organizer: Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue (
Transaction ID: e01894bdb9e7bdb6
Contribution Amount: $32.00
Contribution Date: July 20, 2011 11:17 AM UTC

@ Catherine Turley - The ChipIn "button" is always in the top right-hand corner, once you have reached that particular ChipIn effort. It also tells you the target sum, as well as how much they have collected so far and the % of the total they have reached so far.

I never cease to feel abject horror when I see and read about what vile, wicked humans do to little souls who cannot defend themselves. I sincerely hope that Chloe gets all the treatment she needs and then a loving, compassionate, permanent home.

For every Chloe saved, how many thousands die terrible deaths, alone and uncared for?

Thanks Kathy. I only 1,000 people chipped in $2.00, that would cover everything, and there's already over $500 !!! I just got lucky with a great deal on food for my 5 rescues so I can send a couple of bucks :) And Chloe has the prayers of us all.

PS: I hope whoever did this burns in Hell forever. After they get caught and punished here on Earth.

for those who can't donate, it looks like heidi's legacy is listed with igive. you can search and shop and igive will give them money. only .01 per search, but 10 searches a day over a long period of time would add up.

@ Denise Tankah - "For every Chloe saved, how many thousands die terrible deaths, alone and uncared for?
Mahatma Gandhi said that a country could be judged by the way it treated its animals. Try pondering upon this. "

So do nothing, you mean?

Even if we cannot save them all, surely saving some of them is better than hardening our hearts and save none?

I KNOW it is not fair and I KNOW it does not make sense, but I cannot do nothing at all and I have to at least try to alleviate some of the suffering!

Anna Borsey (66)
Wednesday July 20, 2011, 3:03 pm
They now have $655 (US) out of the target $2000 - 32% of the target sum!

I see, Catherine. Well, no doubt Constance's contribution will be put to good use in respect of another rescued animal!

Anna, I'm quite certain Denise's statement wasn't intended to mean that we shouldn't try to save all the animals we can. It was merely a comment on the fact that so many others still need to be saved - and that our society should be more concerned about all of them.

Jenny S. Lori is a personal friend of mine and is very good at keeping us updated. She has been here and read all the wonderful well wishes and wonderful donations. This really is the best rescue I know, they don't put up a chipin telling you they will saved the animal if they get so much money. They save the animal then scramble for donations. Which is why I'm here scrambling:) They couldn't continue to do the wonderful work they do without people like you guys. This rescue made rescue of the year in Dog Monthly magazine one year. Every penny is spent on the animals, & I adore you all:) Thank you so much. Huge Hugs

Also, I've had some personal messages from some who have promised to send money when they get paid. I'm working class, I totally get this. I would love for them to post on here so all my heroes are listed. I so adore you all for caring about this Noble lady. Chloe is a full blooded German Shepherd. Her eyes show so much fear. Not normal for a German Shepherd. And NO ANIMAL should have to endure the sickness of certain humans. So glad we are all humanes:) I can't thank everyone of you enough who donated, posted, prayed, spread the word, CARED:) So proud to know you guys:)

Dear HeidisLegacy,

I have read this on Care2 and visited your site.

We would be honored to be allowed to represent your very philanthropic cause. I can't make any promises but if it all works out as planned it should create a new revenue stream for your cause and gain attention for your site. Please visit and read the "how it works" page when you have the time.

We will work closely with you and do our best if given this opportunity to help.

Kind Regards,

To Kathy and all who cared about Chloe,
This comes as a very special thank you from all of us at Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue for your wonderful hearts, special prayers and beyond-kind generosity for Chloe. We were so touched by your kindness and happy to report that she is doing wonderfully and healing from the wounds of her former life.

It was you all, who truly helped her in this healing! And as she continues towards wellness, her eyes are shining brighter and her spirit is returning. Even after all she has endured, she is so full of love. It is dogs like Chloe that bring us joy in witnessing this transformation and being a part of that healing. Thank you from our hearts for all that you did as a part of this healing. And please know, it is appreciated by all of us at HLR more than you can possibly imagine.

Bless You All,

That's wonderful, Lori. Looking at the photo you gave us the link to, Chloe looks so much happier and the wounds look better.

We're grateful to have people like you in the world who are willing to spend so much of your time and energy helping those who aren't able to help themselves!
