Another sad case of the government being the enemy of the people.

Just amazing...I hope someone over there in Indiana, has some common sense, and that these people never even have to see the inside of a Courtroom, let alone a jail cell...I mean come on...This is absolutely ridiculous...

Instead of putting people in jail for helping someone in need, they should be going after criminals that rape, rob, and kill others!!

The Councellers should have the charges against dropped immediately.
The DNR is very wrong to prosecute the Councellers for saving and caring for a baby fawn.

The DNR and court are looking very foolish in this matter.

Ty, Veronica.

This is the kind of thing that really makes me mad,try and help an animal and this happens, rediculous,i know deer in particular many times dont get much help from authorities, maybe because the population is high,i dont know, but they are beautiful creatures and if they need our help they should get it-funny how warped the justice system is at times-i hope if these people do get prosecuted, someone here will put up a petition for us to sign-hopefully we will have an update on this story.

Does anyone else feel our "authorities' RULINGS,INTELLECT AND DECISIONS have gone downhill recently and need to be replaced with more competent, skilled humans????

Jail time is a ridiculous way to treat someone who only wanted to help an injured fawn, even if they did break the law. Those laws really are in place to protect animals from people. In some states it's against the law to dispatch an injured animal to end its suffering, usually they're hit by a vehicle, but lots of people violate that law even when they don't have a gun handy.

There is no common sense to be found in this story, those people did what was right and are now being punished. Sad commentary on our times.

What the hell!!!! I have never heard of such a thing!! These bastards are absolutely deranged. There is no way I would leave an animal to suffer no matter what the consequence.

I wonder what it would sound like, the story, if they had a pet deer, bought a fawn from a ranch, to save the deer from becoming "steak".

you would still be happy.

would this animal be a danger to it'self? would it become to habituated to humans? would it know how to survive on it's own?

I can't believe an act of kindness would be punished. MANY PEOPLE LACK THIS EMOTION!!! I am thankful they helped this poor deer. IT SO SO APPALLING to think THEY WILL BE PUNISHED. I have no words. This is beyond my comprehension.
