In 1973, Army Pvt. Wray Forrest spent two months at Edgewood as a volunteer human test subject in a top secret Cold War research program studying chemical and biological weapons.

The names and effects of these substances were largely unknown to these soldier volunteers. According to now declassified government documents, some were exposed to incapacitating drugs like BZ; or to sarin, an extremely toxic, potentially deadly substance that disrupts the nervous system; or to VX, a liquid neurotoxin considered one of the most dangerous chemicals created. Other exposures included tear gas, and hallucinogenics like LSD.

The men were sworn to secrecy and told to never discuss Edgewood Arsenal or the experiments that went on there with anyone.

The Army suspended the research program in 1975.

Insane program, insane tests. Still, I think the military did worse with radioactivity tests because they knew the deadly outcome and only wanted to confirm it.

In my training I saw all of the LSD trial video; the volunteers had no idea the drug was designed to mentally incapaciate. They were given the substance and initally put thru coordination tests but the dose of LSD give produced a florid psychosis in aout 20 mins.

Those predisposed to schizophrenia suffered horrificly. It isdifficult to explain the faves of mixed fear and hallucination ewith zero help to talk down or calm.

a sad time in our history

Sounds Hitler-ish to me except these soldiers gave themselves willingly!! Sad :(
Thnx Dee....

Sunday March 4, 2012, 5:39 pm
Sad and very tragic, however we have to remember that the key word here was, "volunteer." If this indeed was an all volunteer project, then I'm sure the soldiers knew beforehand that a " top secret study involving chemical and biological weapons research," was going to be "potentially very dangerous to their health, as well as to their future."

Thanks Pat..It is unbelievable but sadly so..These poor guys going off to Vietnam was enough in itself..but then to be subjected to this crap..Just disgusting in every way..

Sad indeed Bill..and the fact that when these men signed up to do the tests..they were never informed of what was to take place..They were under the impression that they would be testing Army field weapons..and other stuff..but there was never any mention of drugs and or chemicals..

They found out as they were doing the paper work for it..and when they wanted to back out of it..they were threatened..This is what they were told..
'You volunteered for this. You're going to do it. If you don't, you're going to jail. You're going to Vietnam either way -- before or after,"

These young men who went off to fight a stupid war were tricked and used as guinea pigs and then thrown away like garbage..left to get sick..and die when they were done with them..

These young men were trying to help. He volunteered without having full disclosure about wht would be done to their bodies. The damage to their bodies and their mental capacities were glossed over ass no big deal. How could our givernment treat our own troops with such disrespect and disregard for the after affects.
Dee, thanks for this informtion!

What else is new? Tuskegee experiment. check. Guatamala experiment. check. Sterilization of black, native american and puerto rican woman up until the 80s. check. And the lists goes on and on. I would be surprised to find out the govt isnt still conducting these sick experiments today. But the question is what are we going to do about it?

As a society we must all come together & stop supporting this insane system! We are all being used by the evil government who is in power/control over all of us with the people having no voice, our right & freedom ripped away, our money stolen from us by elite bankers. The whole system is corrupt & failing us & now we will be slowly dragged into a one world government where we will completely be slaves. Please people wake up from this dream as it is no dream, but real. We must unite! The few who rules over the rest of us are going to destroy humanity for ownership to themselves. They care not for any of us.

Why can't we take all these toys from the boys? If we will have wars then we will ave tortures and other nasties and we will have testing on pigs or humans or soldiers or whatever and we will have coverups-
Why can't we regard every war we enter as gross negligence and failure to negotiate properly and umwise action on the part of those that throw a war for us.
Perhaps we could refuse to come to the party?

We were raised as children to believe our Country was the best, was good, wanted the best for all of mankind around the world. Is good propaganda and cover up so that those who were in the "know" could perform in any way they choose, few would question it. After all.......we all are raised to believe, this Country loves us, means no harm to us. Only "other" Countries would do that to it's people.

Get the rose colored glasses off the they say, Truth will set you Free. Not the "fake" freedom but the true freedom. The powerful give just enough to let you "think" you are free, you are only as free as they do allow.

As mentioned by wohuman peace these experiments go on and on and still do. We have sent our sons and now our daughters to Iraq, based on LIES, and while they were over there used Depleted Uranium. The land is full of it now, the poor Iraq people are seeing their children born with all sorts of deformities, no different than all the Agent Orange that was sprayed in VietNam. But while Agent Orange and Depleted Uranium is being used it affects those who are there, combatants and non. We leave a horrific legacy upon their lands, but the men and now women also carry it back with them in ill health and passing it on to their own offspring.

Until we Stop the Military Industrial Complex from thriving, moving full speed ahead, filling the pockets of a few with gold whose Special Interests it is to KEEP wars going, as it profits them, at the expense of everyone else then we will keep having this happening. Now we have "chem trials" and the GMO's being done to our own foods, so we are the big guinea pigs to the Corporations that see ONLY bottom line profits and they do not really care who they kill in the process of it.

So soldiers used for experiments......does not surprise me at all. They have used children in experiments, the children in Foster Care, there is not a shread of morality in these mutant species that want to call themselves human beings.

It's all up to the rest of us, the good hearted, we can sit back and say or do nothing, or we stand up and all be counted. It requires getting out of one's comfort zone or we can all remain cowards and hope we don't loose out in this grand experiment that is being played out on all of us.

Sigh.....A sad comment on the VA. At least the medical system should have taken care of him but again we live in USA & the medical system is great for the 1% and for the rest of us, it's a crap shoot.

No Comment on the military. It would not be printable.

A full examination of the American bioweapons agenda is incomplete without looking at the history of the scientists who jumpstarted the order to avoid war crimes charges associated with their work at the infamous Unit 731: human experimentation, vivesection without anesthetic, and ultimately, the dispersal of weaponized diseases upon large population centers, including Nanking and Shanghai.

Most of the people recruited for the military are young, naive, innocent and eager to please and serve their country or learn a career. Because of their youth they are exploited. Wars, combat, violence produce damaged men and women that are expected to blend back into society. It just doesn't happen. Their minds are shattered, their spirits broken and their bodies torn to shreds. It hurts me so deeply to see how we are treating our own citizens. The people who performed this "research" were unconscionable. I feel for those loved ones this man left behind when his life was compromised and cut short.

Stuff like this was tested on consciencious objecters too. I don't think anyone cared about their health, after all, they were not willing to pick up a gun and mortally wound another human being.
A humor video calls scienceticians (science +technicians) . There is always someone curious enough to do whatever to whoever with whatever. But aw shucks, these guys have degrees and know what they are doing. And heck, they are just doing their job. Would our government use us as guinea pigs? They sure don't trust us to vote and dreamed up the electorial college to do the brainy stuff for us.Whew!
For anyone interested...I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. Please don't report this as "spam selling!"

As the wife of a medically retired U.S. Army veteran of the VietNam era, I have to say I am not overly surprised at this story.
I love our country, but I know first-hand that once a veteran ceases to be useful to the military they are easily thrown away.
I think it is time we stop condeming our government collectively for this type of thing, but ferret out the corruption and clean it up. We have hundreds of thousands of military and government employees who do their very best day in and day out to make our lives better. We need to zero in on the 1% corrupting influence in every aspect of our government and fix it!

This is so wrong. These men where fighting for our freedom and to know that the military was using them to experiment on is DISGRACEFUL. They volunteered to test equipment and where not told about any chemicals, until it was too late. And tell them they did not have to take any of these drugs and in the same breath, tell them if they didn't, they would be punished. WOW! These men didn't have a chose. Take the drugs OR be punished. They did not go into the military for this kind of treatment. It's no wonder so many of them came back home so messed up. Fighting in the war was bad enough, but to have to suffer from all these drugs and chemicals they where giving, is HORRIBLE. These people at Edgewood should have to suffer the way they made these poor men suffer. I think anybody that had anything to do with all this should punished severely. These men DID NOT deserve this. And the VA should treat the soldiers BETTER than they do. I do know the VA and the GOVERNMENT treat veterans HORRIBLE. If they need help, the VA and the GOVERNMENT should go out of there way to do everything they can to help them. And they should NOT be charged anything, they paid the price by going to war. They deserve more respect than this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Around fifteen or twenty years ago, 60 Minutes covered a series of episodes pertaining to this drug testing, as well as chemical warfare testing. They interviewed some of the test subjects of mustard gas testing. The test subjects were in very bad health then and probably died shortly after the airing of their interviews!

This is a horrible truth that we are finally beginning to see. Makes one wonder what else have they done that we don't yet know. Nothing would surprise me any more. It is imperative that we all become more aware and knowledgeable about what really goes on in our government and what our elected officials are into. It's time to get the 'crazy' out of government.
