The scalding death of a 10-year-old girl last July means that the man she accused of raping her won't stand trial. Before she was scalded to death, 10-year-old Jordan Gonsioroski told her father and others that her mother's boyfriend had raped her when s

I have been following this poor girl's sad saga. She went from one abusive situation to the next, she really didn't have a chance with the family she had been given. It breaks my heart to see she still is denied justice.

Here is the contact information for a local organzation that has been involved with the case. ITHey may have plans petition the court on her behalf. Currently the father and his wife are in jail awaiting sentencing in her death so action may be delayed until that case is finished.

It is possible that she wasn't raped. Her father certainly couldn't be considered a trustworthy source or guardian.

I understand that he is not trustworthy, but I think the allegations were based on Jordan's testimony and police report. I have a feeling she was sexually abused, she was killed/punished for behavior indicative of such. She was sticking potato chips in her underwear, which her "guardians" deemed as an act punishable by scalding/death. It is so senseless, and I do not wish to justify the actions of any of her so called guardians as I feel they fell way short of duties entailed in parenting in many ways.

According to the article, she made a videotaped statement. I have evaluated hundreds of children in child custody and/or sexual abuse cases. Interviewers vary widely in their ability to conduct a valid interview. There is also a suggestion that she might have been coached by her father. It certainly sounds like he would be a person to be afraid of. She was killed by her father who was accusing the mother's boyfriend. People should be prosecuted on evidence, not feelings. The children of the mother and her boyfriend were still in the home which would indicate that authorities may have had some doubt about the charges. Other than the abuse accusations, I didn't see any mention of problems in the mother's home. She may or may not have been a good guardian.

Could it be possible her father raped her and coached her into saying it was her mother's boyfriend? I just wonder since he killed her / allowed her to be killed by putting her in a scalding bath. Take away the victim / only witness and there is no crime?!?!?!?!? I just can't imagine torturing such an innocent being. No child should die at the hands of their own parents or be tortured or abused by someone their parent is dating or remarried to. It's just sick and sad what that poor little girl went through. I hope justice is served in some way, shape or form.

My intention was not to post this in order to argue the case. I am not a court or CPS insider and do not have more information than you can gather for yourself. I have formed my opinion from all the information that was released from when the incident occured in July. I suggest that you do a search of the archives in the star tribune to gather the same information and create your own opinion on this. I feel this argument of the semantics of the case takes away from the reality that is SO EVIDENT. She was an inocent child, she was abused, she is dead and she deserves justice. Justice is what it is -- arguing the child sex abuse case seems like a tangent and I feel it unnecessarily is subjecting her to more scrutiny. She deserved better. She was a victim -- let us not continue to victimize her with suposition. No one will really know what happened besides this little girl and she is dead.

My heart cries when I hear sad stories like this. No children should ever have to suffer in any way, EVER. The horrors of abuse we hear everyday is so disturbing it makes me want to reach out and strangle all those that commit crimes against children.

Im very protective of kids and youth, I have a son that is special needs, cause of a idiot in California, my son had a shot dpt and it was infected with something, and yes this man is in prison, but this Jordan Im sure did what she was taught to do, "GO and tell someone" and she did, and she now is not with us no more, cause of her Mother didnt protect her, and how can a MOTHER not protect her children? AS far as I can see there's nothing redeemable about ANY of the people involved with this child. If there had been any justice, she would have been taken away from the whole bunch. What a despicable lot!

I did check the archives and you have to pay to search them. If you have other articles about this, would you please post them. Any way you looked at it, what happened to this child is an absolute tragedy. However, in my experience CPS tends to make two big mistakes - failing to rescue abused children and making false accusations of abuse. It would be a shame if this mother lost custody of her child, the child was murdered, and now people are attacking her if the allegations were unfounded. Now that the father has murdered her, the mother and her boyfriend have lost the opportunity to challenge the allegations. It is innocent until proven guilty still, even though CPS does not operate this way.

This is absolutely terrible!! So, her father killed her so she couldn't testify? What is wrong with our world!?!? That is one of the saddest things I have heard in a really long time. What is wrong with this judge? Why wasn't she taken away in the first place? She might still be alive.

My mind is reeling just picturing her last painful moments of life. I can only imagine her desperation at realizing no one was going to save her.

Human beings can be so cruel to their peers, but to torture a child is inexcusable!

Like Cynthia, I too, would like you to keep us updated.

UPDATE: Father gets 30 years for daughter's scalding death

An Anoka County judge handed down a sentence Thursday twice as harsh as guidelines called for in the case of a little girl scalded to death.

Last July, 10-year-old Jordan Gonsioroski died after being submerged in a tub full of hot water. According to the criminal complaint she had burns over 70 percent of her body.

Now, nearly a year later, her father Jason has been sentenced to three decades behind bars.

Jordan was living with her father and his girlfriend Julie Meier in Blaine when she was killed.

According to the criminal complaint Jordan was burned, and then died because her father and Meier did not call for help right away. The medical examiner said that if she had received the proper medical care, Jordan would have survived her injuries.

After her father was sentenced Thursday, Jordan's family remembered a little girl who was full of life and who one day wanted to become a doctor.

"If she knew you, you'd get hugs. Very seldom was she down, but if you'd talk to her she'd smile again...she's very much missed in our family," Jordan's great-grandmother Florence Cohen said.

"This is so wrong. She had a life to live and she will never, ever have it. We will never, ever see her grow up," Jordan's aunt Nancy Nelson said.

It's still not clear how Jordan got in the tub, or why. Jason Gonsioroski and Julie Meier both pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second degree murder, but have pointed the finger at each other.

Meier still faces sentencing sometime in the next few weeks.

Jason Gonsioroski was sentenced to 30 years in prison and will be eligible for supervised release in 20 years. That is double the usual sentence for this type of crime. The court determined that because of the cruelty involved, because Jordan was so vulnerable and because this happened in front of her siblings, her father should get more time.

In court, Gonsioroski's attorney said while his client's actions were reprehensible, he was more passive than active in what happened to Jordan.

THANK YOU so much for following up on this. I will never forget that story!

Even though it was a very stiff penalty for the sadistic a**hole, it was still too kind . . . and much better than he deserved. I hope his time in prision is pure hell and makes him wish he were dead every time he opens his eyes in the morning!

Blaine / Girlfriend gets 22½ years
Woman convicted in 2006 scalding death of boyfriend's 10-year-old daughter
BY MARY BAUER
Pioneer Press
Article Launched: 07/24/2007 12:01:00 AM CDT

A Blaine woman was sentenced Monday to 22½ years in prison for her role in the scalding death of her boyfriend's 10-year-old daughter last July.

In handing down the sentence, Anoka County District Court Judge Lawrence Johnson noted that the public likely will never know exactly who placed Jordan Gonsioroski in a tub of lethally hot bathwater.

Her father, Jason Gonsioroski, and his live-in girlfriend, Julie Ann Meier, blamed each other. Meier's sentence is about eight years shorter than Gonsioroski's.

Johnson acknowledged the domestic abuse Meier, 25, likely suffered from Gonsioroski. And he noted that Meier was the only one of the two who showed remorse for Jordan's death.

"I've failed everyone in this courtroom," a weeping Meier told the court. "I failed Jordan. I failed my own children."

Gonsioroski and Meier pleaded guilty in March to second-degree murder in Jordan's death. But they pointed fingers at each other. In June, Gonsioroski was sentenced to 30 years in prison, twice the time called for in state sentencing guidelines. He will be eligible for parole in 19 years.

Paul Young, an Anoka County prosecutor, argued that Meier should receive a sentence equal to Gonsioroski's sentence.

He said there was no evidence to support Meier's claims of abuse at Gonsioroski's hands and no way to tell which of them was more to blame.

But most domestic abuse victims tell no one, Meier's attorneys said. They pointed out that Meier stayed with Jordan when the girl's father ran and hid.
"He went to smoke marijuana," said Bryan Leary, an attorney with the Anoka County public defender's office. "She never left. She never forgot Jordan."

Relatives who spoke on Jordan's behalf said they were satisfied with the sentence. Some said they believed Meier's story of abuse but said she should have put Jordan's safety above her own.

"A mother fights to save her child's life," said Sharon Voigt, Jordan's maternal grandmother, noting that Meier was raising Jordan with her biological children. "She could have run. She could have sought help. She just didn't do that."

In his sentencing, Johnson recalled a doctor's testimony that Jordan's burns - over 75 percent of her body - likely caused pain worse than almost any other kind of injury.

But Johnson said Meier's dazed and unresponsive expressions in her initial court appearances indicated she was in shock. Meier also took some responsibility, never minimizing her role in the girl's death, he said.

With credit for a year already served in custody, Meier will serve 14 years in prison before she is eligible for supervised release. She also must pay $6,194 to the Minnesota crime victims reparation fund.

She surrendered her parental rights to the three children she had with Gonsioroski. One of Gonsioroski's sisters was awarded custody.

"I loved Jordan," Meier said. "I only wanted her in my house to help her."

Jordan started living with Meier and Gonsioroski in 2005 after Isanti County officials removed her from the Braham, Minn., home of her mother, Amanda Johnson, and her mother's live-in boyfriend, Randy Johnson.

Jordan's autopsy results suggested the girl was underweight, had likely not eaten for several days and was malnourished at the time of her death.
