A new space observatory called LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antennae) set to launch in 2011, intends to actually detect gravitational waves traveling through space-time.

"If a gravitational wave traveled from the black hole at the center of our galaxy and passed through your body, it would stretch and compress you by an amount far less than the width of an atom." i think this happened to me the other day ~

information like this is affecting me: last night i dreamed i was sucked into a black hole that looked suspiciously like that cornucopia doomsday machine from star trek. and even though it upchucked light, i couldn't get out! ~
