As we pass across the galactic plane, this cyclic time-period seems to match the most dangerous prehistoric periods of devastating impacts upon the Earth.

The Internet archive information (2006-2008) research concerning this topic, is increasingly important as we now move through the most densest area of the Milky Ways' spiral arm!

This danger-period will 'not' end until after 2016, when we pass back into our safety-zone.

Q.: Why is this so important?

A.: Because in order to have hope, astronomers must locate cometary intruders, and only then is it possible to deflect them in time!

If they do not, then it is the way of the dinosaurs for us.

The Oort Cloud contains millions of orbiting cometary bodies, that when disturbed by galactic forces, it sends them toward our Sun's gravity; therefore across the planetary orbits.
