Hi Robert, Can you explain what is meant in this petition by "Native people" being a threat to the rainforest? There seems to be no distinction here between the Amazonian indigenous tribes who are in fact the guardians of the forest and the tree chopping cattle farmers etc.

Jackie C.; Unfortunately, not 'all' Amazon Rainforest 'native people' are in favor of stopping massive deforestation!

Many natives of this region are actually employed by the very companies of destruction, that activists are fighting against!

If this petition had read: "Regional native protesters are a threat", then I would have grave concern of a typo or ......etc., but after I have researched the ongoing habitat destruction going on there, it is now known of legions of natives who are HELPING DESTROY THEIR OWN HOMES FOR PROFIT $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !!!

Sad But True, however, their is now a growing turn-around and a new activism is developing among many of the native families -----

Especially those who live 'very close' to the deforestation paths.

They can now see it coming, but can we in time???

Any further petition analysis must be directed to the petition author by clicking on their "Sponsored By" for forwarding comments, suggestion and feedback to petition author ---

Thank you for asking!

Great video and thank you for that Robert and Melinda.
I put this on my care2 page and will cross post on care2 and on facebook.

It was also very nice when "The Nature Alliance" put a link where we could read more about the corruption and the "help" of indigious people to destruct their precious rainforest, because of...MONEY!! Especially for those who did not know...

Again thank you both

The Big Industry Power Moguls are using "poverty versus the 'higher standard of living' promise" against the Amazon native people, as they are and have been corrupting the innocent worldwide!!!

What Big Industry does, is first pass legislation to make things tougher on any indigenous native people, and create whatever pressure necessary to make those targeted people become more desperate!

Example: Restrict Trade Agreements . . .etc., and this is always done prior to Big Industry moving into the targeted area!

Then next, Big Industry sends in polished specialists that are supremely paid well ($$$) to make contact with the indigenous natives, and gives a presentation of films and slide-shows --- a regular CEO presentation of the highest caliber, in order to show the natives what they could be having --- to become great like them --- show them what they are missing!!!

And finally the recruitment drive begins, this brings in all able-body paid slaves to work and become employed by the 'Big Project' with the 'Big Promise'.

But then, the native people of these targeted regions realize, that their homes, lands and very environmental existence is being wiped-out, polluted and stripped of life,

Usually after all this, when Big Industry can't extract another drop of oil, trees or whatever they seek, they then just LEAVE and move on to the next prepared targeted area!

No real and true compensation --- only complete moral and environmental devastation is left behind in their wake!!!

This is a 24/7/365 industry of subtrefuge and deceit, with levels of extraordinary planning, that leads directly back to every national president, dictator or king (queen) having full knowledge of and giving their full blessing to this procedure!

They have become empowered by our need for toilet paper, writing paper, gasoline, toothpicks, petroleum plastics and a host of endless modern 'necessities' of the 'higher standard of living'; which will ultimately lead to:

=========== EXTINCTION =============

THIS IS THE PRICE OF COMFORT FOR TODAY!!!

First of all thanks Robert for promoting the cause which seems to be not popular on Care2
Secondly - it's well known fact that Amazon forest has been destructed not only by big companies but also native people - the question is the reason for that and amount of the forest destructed by them
and the last thing - the petition is rubbish - what/who is the target ?? and what the petition is asking for???

I have sent 'feedback' to the petition author, requesting an 'edit' of the petition target ---

Since I am not the author, then I am only able to forward feedback.

I have stated the 'Target' concern, and let them know they are losing signature potential by their inaction.

This was just sent as of the afternoon of June 15th 2009.

Many petition authors in their rush to complete a petition, fail to polish the document, but that's what 'feedback to author' is used for.
