If you want hope, then it is concealed within transforming Planet Earth into a totally 'Green Living Lifestyle', and right now!!!

If any of our leaders fail to provide this leadership, then you might as well bend over and kiss your butt goodbye!

There is something about Pickens that rings true. If we could somehow go to all alternative fuel, think how good it would be for the environment! It would take a big change in thinking for most folks...and most Texans. We do live in an "oil bubble" that partially insulates us from the woes of the rest of the US. Thanks, Robert.

I believe alternative energy is our future, whether it is solar, wind, hydropower etc. But I never never support future oil, natural gas or nuclear energy. No one has even addressed the toxic waste from oil, natural gas and nuclear. They pollute not only our air, water, and land but humans as well. Before they start shoving oil, natural gas and nuclear energy down our throats, let them publicy explain how they will dispose of the toxic waste. Maybe in their backyards?

30 percent reduction in oil in 10 years ? That's not terribly impressive. Obviously, we are taking baby steps so as not to tick off the almighty Oil Barons. We can, and should, do better than this.

I agree, Ann, we shouldn't be thinking in terms nuclear, supposedly "clean" coal, or even natural gas. Alas, progress will be held back by those powerful interests who are heavily invested in these industries. What a shame, for we really do have so many of the technologies needed for a cleaner planet.

The United States Government knew as far back as the late 1970's, that Alternative Energies marketing could off-set the financial bubble creations, later made by Alan Greenspan for the Oil Industry, and now we can see where we came from ----

And why we are in the shape we are in!
