Barack Obama has hardened his position on direct nuclear talks with Iran. This came after the Iranian parliament speaker on Saturday slammed US President-elect Obama, for saying Tehran's pursuit of nuclear weapons was 'unacceptable'. Continues to sizzle!

The Iranian nuclear crisis is number two against the U.S./worldwide economic crisis, but either could spin-off into a global disaster.

Climate Change is about to be moved to the 'front-burner', and sometimes I would like to stick 'my' head in the sand ---

Can't get anything accomplished from that precarious position, so on I go forward to affect 'change'!!!

What am I missing? Is it not true that Iran (who has NO nuclear weapons,) has signed on to non-proliferation with the international community while Israel (who HAS nuclear weapons,) refuses?

I am reminded of a quote attributed to Lincoln, "The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend". Why not negotiate with Iran? We should work for peace with all nations. I pray for a day when all nations will convert their nuclear weapons factories to power plants, or suppliers of fuel for power plants. We stand on the precipice of change. We can easily slip back into the comfort of old paradigm thinking or move forward from a culture of death to one of life. What shall we choose? I remember back in the 60's how we had weekly air raid drills...We would go into cloak rooms or duck under desks, sit cross legged and put our heads down forward with our hands behind our necks. How this would help us survive a nuclear blast is still a mystery to me. I think the idea was for people (most likely archaeologists) to find us in a peaceful repose, unlike the remains of the victims of Mt. Vesuvius in Italy. I remember "film strips" of what to do in the event of a nuclear attack...Take shelter, even if that means lying in a street gutter, with hands on the back of the neck. Do we need to go back to those days again? Let's just do away with all nuclear weapons. Like it or not, Obama is at least willing to talk to other nations.
