In 1886, The Chief Justice was corrupted and Corporations were deemed "citizens". Thats when the "trouble" started and the result is the unchecked power that the Corporation now Enjoy. I AM glad WE ARE Changing this......

Hi Serge,

Thomas Jefferson wanted the People in Power, and warned of the Corruption of Industry, and Corporate Rule.

I think People should be helping me change the Constitution, but they aren't.

Continuing Thomas Jefferson's work is not what I planned on doing with the rest of my life,
but if you read the Petition...I think he'd be proud.

Thomas Jefferson is probably rolling over in his Grave, and has been for quite some time now.

Washington, D.C. -- The Supreme Court has just finished hearing oral arguments about whether it should overturn 102 years of precedent and rule that corporations have the same right to spend money to influence elections that citizens possess.

********************************

In my humble opinion, NO. Serge..., I agree, everyone should become aware of what is before the Supreme Court, at this time...Very noted and thank you (((hugs))))

How corporations mistakenly got to be treated as persons with free speech rights...

Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad

This case is sometimes incorrectly cited as holding that corporations, as juristic persons, are protected by the Fourteenth Amendment.

The question of whether corporations were persons within the meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment had been argued in the lower courts and briefed for the Supreme Court, but the Court did not base its decision on this issue.

However, before oral argument took place, Chief Justice Morrison R. Waite announced:

"The court does not wish to hear argument on the question whether the provision in the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which forbids a State to deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws, applies to these corporations. We are all of the opinion that it does."

This quotation was printed by the court reporter, J.C. Bancroft Davis, a former president of a small railroad, in the syllabus and case history above the opinion, but was not in the opinion itself. As such, it did not technically - in the view of most legal historians - have any legal precedential value. However, the Supreme Court is not required by Constitution or even precedent to limit its rulings to written statements.

The persuasive value of Waite's statement did influence later courts, becoming part of American corporate law without ever actually being enacted by statute or formal judicial decision. For these reasons, some believe it to be literally an unprecedented extension of constitutional rights to US corporations.

A Supreme Court Ruling is what brought down the Economic Structure that led to our current Crisis.

The States were attempting to curb Unethical Lending, but the Feds disagreed, and challenged that the States could enforce the Laws, because the Banks are 'Federally Regulated.' The Supreme Court agreed. The Predatory Lending continued, unchecked, because of this Ruling, and has led to the Financial Meltdown of the Worlds Economies.

I believe that it is our duty to know what happens within our Supreme Court, and change it if we must. This is considered Our, 'Supreme, Law of the Land.' Apparently, 'Regulated' is now defined as, "Ignored."

Thank you Serge!

Corporations are NOT people.. Why not?

Corporations as people live FOREVER, compared to us mere mortals, we are a distinct disadvantage to someone who lives forever.

Corporations accumulate power and wealth FOREVER.. Compared to us mere mortals, we are a distinct disadvantage when compared to this, as we expire and disappear, losing all of our power and assets..

Corporations use these two things to influence, lobby, blackmail, bribe and control Congress, which is supposed to be FOR THE PEOPLE, not corporations. Again, we the people get shut out, shut down and pushed aside, and corporations rule absolutely... They literally WRITE THE LAWS, which politicians then sign.

I agree. But also understand "corporations" should also mean the unions, PAC's, ACORN's, etc of the world.
