My mother and I thank Care2 members who signed our petition for the USDOJ to please do its job and investigate the secret incarceration and wrongful death of my brother who was hidden away in Memphis/Shelby Co. Jail for weeks while his social worker and family searched for him in 2003, knowing Larry would die without his heart drugs.

The USDOJ under Gonzales REFUSED to investigate the wrongful death of Larry Neal.

My 86-year-old mother signed contract with The Cochran Firm to be our wrongful death attorneys against the jail, but it merely held our lawsuit doing ZERO for 10.5 months while Tennessee's 12-month statute of limitations was running. Seemes like everyone was working together to deny justice to my family when we were left to mourne Larry's loss, a lifelong mental patient who never hurt anyone and should not have been in jail in the first place!

NOW MY MOTHER AND I ARE AFRAID TO STEP OUTSIDE! I was accosted several times last year by up to eight men in four cars and once, a USDOT truck was with them. The police REFUSE to investigate my being followed home from work and stalked in my neighborhood! When accosted last Sept. 27, emergency 911 did not come for the hour I hid in the Chevron station with my 6-year-old grandson.

We hope and trust that the USDOJ under the Obama administration will really uphold justice. Gonzales was indicted last fall for somehow profiting off withholding abuses to inmates in county jails. He never stood trial, so those charges were not investigated. In Larry's case, it was not merely an abuse the USDOJ refused to investigate, but death.

Pray for us. Pray that the USDOJ has changed and will help my family.

I meant to write that Gonzales was indicted last fall for somehow PROFITING BY WITHHOLDING USDOJ INVESTIGATIONS AFTER ABUSES TO INMATES IN COUNTY JAILS.

Oscar Grant's family and friends knew something that my family did not when Larry died in a jail that kept lying saying they did not have him - probably because they were sick of this black mental patient.

Oscar Grant's people knew a demonstration was necessary right after Oscar was murdered by police to get any semblance of justice. Otherwise, his death would likely have been swept under the rug like they try to do with Larry Neal's.

Thanks for noting and commenting! Keep praying for our safety. It is not justice justice for Larry at stake, believe me. See the Affidavits from neighborthood business owners and others who attest to my being followed and waylaid in my neighborhood.

Every since Duanna Johnson was executed on Nov. 9 - another party who planned to sue Shelby County Police - we stay home. Since it appears that police will not help us.

Police won't even so much as ask Angela Mason, Cochran Firm Attorney, how she knew the color of the vehicle that followed me home from work most nights in Feb. 2008. She told the USDC the color of the vehicle, ALTHOUGH I NEVER TOLD ANYONE THE COLOR!

This is not supposed to be just America for the rich people, like successful lawyers!

I am so sorry! You are in my prayers! I know what it is like to be afraid of the police. I only have to worry about myself but you have someone else as well. You have to protect yourself however necessary, this is what someone told me before. I am not saying to take the law into your own hands but please contact policeabuse.com. They have been investigating things like this for years and will put it in the public eye. Stop trying to handle it yourself, let them do it for you. You've been through enough. You will be safe because we are all praying for you!!

Thank you, Cynthia. Actually, I don't know if I am "afraid" of the police, but I certainly understand that we can count on their protection based on past performance when I desperately needed their help, called 911, and police did not come - See YouTube video - Cochran Firm Fraud #1.

Incidentally, the man who was police chief during my terrifying ordeal was recently fired for totally unrelated reasons. Karma.

I want to thank Care2News Network and NowPublic.com. SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL MY FRIENDS! This article is on Care2's front page. News of the secret arrest and wrongful death of any citizen should be reported widely. However, if it were not for citizens journalism, many wrongs done by government and big business would escape our attention and be swept under the rug.

Here is something that my brother, Larry Morris Neal, a handicapped American citizen, used to recite very loud and often:

I WROTE TO THE USDOJ ON FRIDAY

A message that came back from the USDOJ saying emails would be answered in the order received. So, one can only assume they have a lot of emails to answer. I hate to have to go to the building downtown without an appointment - I frankly hate to leave home PERIOD with all of these strange new neighbors so thick around us and watching my house every minute. I sent some of my friends the license numbers to some of their cars.

Sometimes, I don't get all my emails, my search program is not allowed to work. So it is possible I got an email from the USDOJ in response to mine. I have to look thoroughly.

Thank you, Jenny D. But I checked and it was definitely Saturday that I emailed the USDOJ and asked to meet with them. Hopefully, they can straighten out some of this tangled web, and maybe Mr. Eric Holder, our new Attorney General, will acutally investigate Larry's death and the elaborate cover-up that followed.

Then my mom could stop having nightmares about all the possible ways her "special child" may have died, and we can get justice for the fraud that made the cover-up possible.

Rhianna Tibbetts, I am sorry for any difficulty you face in family court. However, the site of this article is not the proper forum for you to post AN ENTIRE ARTICLE exposing that problem, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the discussions at hand.

Thanks for your article and your updates. I read about the strange and menacing behaviour of your 'neighbours' in 'NowPublic'. I'm very concerned for your and your mother. I've been following your articles. As an Australian I can hardly credit that you've been put through such a harrowing ordeal, and for so long...

Forgive me while I recap... One Neal family member died mysteriously while secretly incarcerated in a privately owned prison. Yet years on, the grieving Neal family are still being denied the details of Larry's incarceration. The Neal family still wonder how and why he died.

The world would indeed be interested in knowing why some American citizens aren't getting equal rights, why some American citizens are not permitted freedom of speech, why some American citizens are not permitted freedom of information.

Citizens of a powerful nation like America, we imagine, would automatically expect to be heard and to have access to legal processes. Freedom of speech is what Americans have been taught, passionately, all their lives. This is the image that America projects to the rest of the world.

Mary and her mother are innocent decent members of that society, yet in her pursuit of information about her brother's death, Mary has been constantly thwarted by obstacles, threats, and lies. Attempts are made constantly to silence her 'speech'.

And now the menacing doings of Mary's neighbours, these minions of evil, strongly suggest that someone wants to silence Mary for good.

The wolves in sheep's clothing behaviour of the lawyers who willingly undertook the Neal case is decidedly a product of the Cochran firm's true agenda. The Cochran firm in fact are implicit, being owners of the jail in which Larry Neal disappeared without trace for 18 days, and wherein he, equally mysteriously, died.

I beg of you, American citizens, get involved. Please give support, protection and constructive assistance to Mary Neal - this innocent, brave, and wonderful woman. It's well past the time for mere words.

Or are you telling this Australian that among the millions of Americans there is no-one who can/will help Mary and her mother?

May no more American citizens be denied simple common decency and respect.
May all American citizens be accorded protection and justice.

And at last, let this question be answered- How is it that rich and powerful Americans can so easily thwart the law to suit themselves, at the same time putting innocents at risk?

Perhaps then Larry Neal can rest in peace, and his surviving family can live in peace!
