ANOTHER mentally ill inmate was beaten to death by three guards in Fulton Co., GA jail and only one guard was charged with battery. Also, USDC ruled in favor of Cochran Firm re: fraud against Neals; no equal justice for mentally ill - especially blacks

Americans are very concerned for prisoners in Guantánamo Bay. I thank Care2 News Network and other online media for helping to expose prisoner torture and deaths right here at home - done against our most vulnerable citizens, the incarcerated mentally ill.

Homelessness, prison, and death must cease being America's answer to mental illness.

ONCE AGAIN, JUSTICE WAS DENIED regarding the secret arrest and wrongful death of Larry Neal, a lifelong mental patient who died under secret arrest in Memphis/Shelby County Jail in Tennessee in 2003. And no one will make the jail release any records regarding Larry's secret arrest and death, not even the USDOJ, which was in a supervisory role over the jail at the time of Larry's death.

Johnnie Cochran Firm spearheaded an elaborate fraud as Larry's family's wrongful death attorneys that involved numerous government agencies and never filed suit against the jail where Larry died. When the law firm was sued, Judge Shoob of Georgia Superior Court issued The Cochran Firm's Atlanta office a Court Order of non-existence and dismissed the case, although the firm kept operating every single day on Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA and advertising its services as a Cochran Firm office.

This week the Neals's case against The Cochran Firm for its fraud was also dismissed by USDC Judge Timothy Batten.

Neither perjury (redacted documents fraudulently entered into court records), fraud against Larry's 80+year old mother, stalking of plaintiffs, or hidden conflict of interest, or the law firm taking a client's case and lying about work being done while doing ZERO for clients for 10.5 months swayed Judge Batten to allow the Neals to take their case against The Cochran Firm before a jury for a just ruling.

ONCE AGAIN, ANOTHER mentally ill man was beaten to death in jail - this time Fulton Co. Jail in Georgia where a mentally ill inmate was beaten to death by three guards, yet only one was fired and arrested. Surprisingly, he is not charged with murder, but mere assault, apparently.

The right to "open disclosure" and "equal justice" should be realized by all, or officials should just retire those cute phrases. "Liberty and justice for all" should either be deleted from our Pledge of Allegiance or actually honored. Stop lying to school children.

MENTAL PATIENTS IN AMERICA ARE IN DIRE NEED OF AT LEAST DOG JUSTICE!

Anyone with mental illness should not be in jail. They need to be in a home where they will receive treatment. I remember when Geraldo Rivera exposed the cruel treatment of those with mental illness at Willowbrook in NY. I was horrified viewing it. There were many young ones there. I thought so much of Geraldo for saving these people. This man should not have been treated like this. Is this what our country has come to. Killing those with mental illness. This man needs justice. Noted with rage. Thanks Mary.

Joycey,

I am so hurt today. Once again I have been told by my country that I count less that Michael Vick's dogs. My family does not count. Larry did not count. I am so sad - truly hurt.Michael Vick's dogs' deaths were investigated and justice was demanded. But we are denied. I cannot describe it.

This is really a miscarriage of justice!

My heart goes out to you in your hurt, Mary. Lawyers are sometimes -often?- almost a mafia-style group with their connections and deals with corrupt law enforcement. The Cochran Firm should have been taken to task, convicted, and held up to public humiliation as an example!

Thank goodness there are all the dedicated human & civil rights lawyers, like the ones defending our Constitution and Guantanamo detainees, at the Center for Constitutional Rights, or the ones denouncing racism at the Southern Poverty Law Center. They may be a minority, but, for me, that is what being a lawyer is all about: defending the law, and defending people from lawlessness.

Detention facilities in private hands, raking in the profits, with no regard for civil or human rights, are a threat to democracy.

Thanks Alba, Joycey, and everyone who noted this.

I guess we could understand this better if it were a "private" facility, but it was a public county jail that the USDOJ was already in supervision over because of previous abuses.

My brother was sick, but not a real criminal. He would get picked up for simple things like singing loud or panhandling. He usually would be released to his social worker,

BUT THEY WERE SICK OF HIM. So they lied about having him and without his heart meds, Larry died. Unless they did more to him-- they won't tell.

The man who was recently beaten to death - he was also in a public County jail.

Revolting disregard for human life ! They should all be punished for this, it's the only way to end this unjustifiable abuse of people.

Mary, my heart goes out to you and your family! Some people would not work as tirelessly as you do after everything that has happened. You are truly an angel and I know that one day soon, there will be justice!

Peace, love, and blessed be!

There are more deaths in Mental Hospitals than anywhere else. Everyday patients are left to die. They are unsupervised, given dangerous drugs that kill and mame and are abused by their caregivers. Electric Shock Treatment kills more people daily. Rape and perversion is high amongst Psychiatrist. Especially with minors.
Psychiatry is a profession/industry of death that is not regulated. They get away with murder because the patients are "mentally ill" and cannot speak for themselves or are laughed at (crazy). A policeman would never go to a call at a hospital because they are under Psychiatric care. Care that comes from Natzi Germany. They are still using the same experiments they used in the concentration camps.
They all need to be shut down, tried in a court of law for their crimes to human rights. The patients need to be left to people who really care about their wellbeing!

Isn't there an appeals process or was this what just occurred (the appeal)? Either way, I am sorry. Why is it that the money machines of this country get special priveledges...even when they do wrong? I am really, really sorry. But don't give up, I mean it. There has got to be a way. Have your tried Oprah, Dateline, any of those news and reality based information shows?

Thank all of you. What I have is only 50% courage, but it is 50% RAGE. I have learned so much. We do not live in a land of "liberty and justice for all" - far from it! I am sick to death of reading and hearing about how badly folks are treated - locked up for little or nothing, while the real criminals are not prosecuted. It is an awful system to close hospitals and dump sick people on the street, knowing and waiting until they break a law one day so they can lock them up and use them to make money for PRISON PROFITEERS. Apparently, they have lawyers in place to see that suits against their unrighteousness go nowhere - and judges, too. Look at those Pennsylvania judges working for the prison profiteers, helping them by closing down the public detention center for children so they could channel little kids into their private facility - and the judges profitted to the tune of $2.6 million. (If that much money was acknowledged, there was likely more.)

Then to think that they secretly arrested my brother and have the gall to deny us any investigation or records, but go right ahead making speeches about "equal justice" and "open disclosure."

Joan, you think The Cochran Firm commercials make you sick, they made me so sick that I had to stop riding MARTA (where the commercials used to run every six minutes), and stop looking at commercial TV, because it ran my blood pressure up to have a COURT ORDER saying there is no Cochran Firm in Georgia, reported it to the FCC, FTC, and BBB, but all those agencies allow the fraud to continue.

I also had to stop watching CNN, because I was subjected to politicians talking about how important "equal justice" is, while we have 2.3 million folks in jail, 200,000 right now in solitary confinement (torture), and 60% of these are mentally dysfunctional people, and 80% of the inmates in solitary confinement are black. This is a corrupt, evil system. Evil.

I don't watch TV because I might see a politician going to church or hear one mention God or family values. Hypocrisy like that makes me sick and it makes the God I serve sick. I know many people are not Christians, but I love the idea of knowing that my God is coming back one day and kick *ss.

Blessings!

Mary

Phyllis, you asked if there is an appeals process, and the answer is yes. We have 120 days to appeal Judge Batten's unrighteous ruling. We sued for Contract Fraud - Breach of Contract. He changed it into a malpractice case so he could have an excuse to dismiss it. My mother who is on social security and I took my small secretary salary and saved up the $350 to file a Breach of Contract suit and demand a jury trial. Judge Batten had no right to change it and judge the case as a malpractice case.

YES - those lawyers did malpractice. But it was not a malpractice case - the malpractice was not some accident, like when a lawyer misses an important date to file a document. IT WAS FRAUD - they never filed a single paper in our behalf - they did NOTHING but hold our case inactive while writing us lying letters stating what they were doing. That is not merely malpractice, and everyone knows it. THAT IS FRAUD.

These courts in America have abandoned the principles of justice.

Lady Justice had a corneal transplant and took her blindfold off. Now she can see the race of the people entering her court, and she is not blind to the bribes of money and favors held out to her. LADY JUSTICE CAN SEE JUST FINE NOW, and someone needs to grab her and tie that blindfold back on tight, before we lose any semblance of justice in this country. These judges need to be fired. Most of them can probably live on their bribes and prison profiteering earnings.

Mary Neal, you gotta change your picture! A man's pic with a female name just don't jive!
Sure am saddened by your plight. Just like the person beaten to death in the news story above, it surely shows that we have a lot of incompetent people in positions of power that should, themselves, be locked up.
I wanna tell you, my fellow Americans, it is way past due for us to really make an impact and do something. Talking is one thing, action is another. There has always been talking, which is good, but has it gotten us anywhere? Nope!, it hasn't. But, it has gotten us on various watch list, huh?

Thanks, Ray. That is a picture of my brother. I believed that our plight as far as attorney fraud and open disclosure regarding the jail records on Larry would be over so fast once I told the public and took it to court that I could accomplish the entire thing and maintain my privacy by using Larry's picture.

That was before I found out that imprisoning folks is BIG BUSINESS. Taxpayers pay over $50 billion annually for our prison budget - as much as $50,000 per prisoner. Even having folks in public facilities helps, because unless they are kept packed, no one gets to the private facilities where the money is made.

If you want to see me, just look at my YouTube videos - Cochran Firm Fraud No. 1 and especially No. 2

Thanks for your interest. As a matter of fact, I agree with you totally that something more needs to be done than petitions that authorities often ignore. I was just putting together a peaceful demonstration that I hope hundreds of concerned people will support on May 16 and 17 to protest the way prisoners are treated and police abuse, for DNA testing for all prisoners who want it, to repeal the death penalty, and other justice issues that will improve life for prisoners, promote safety for average citizens, and help police officers and prison guards work in a less volatile atmosphere, because there would be less animosity if citizens are treated fairly.

Remember that people don't start being prisoners after arrest and trial. It starts at the point when an officer pulls you over or says, "Halt." From that point, you are essentially his prisoner, and many, like Oscar Grant, never make it to jail.

I will post the announcement in my sharebook within a few days, so please keep an eye out for it, and start saving your money for a nice weekend in Atlanta, GA in mid-May! Only peace-loving people are invited!

I don't toally follow this as I am British but we have prisons for people with sever mental health issues here. I can also say that if anyone died in prison here then there is a full investigation by the police (we just have 1 police force). If there is a failure then there is an external investigation of the police!

Have you considered approaching someone like Cuba Gooding Jnr, or any other black agitator (is that the right word?) for a face to lead an appeal? Mental health is a terrible issue as so few people really understand what it means and often attack those they regard to be second class citizens believing that they will not be able to respond.

I regret to say that they will never be true equality in any country but we need to get as close to it as we can.

Thank you, Gillian, for responding to this article. I appreciate your suggestions.

Before the Constitution of the U.S. was nullified, there was a law that all deaths on government property had to be investigated. Obviously, that is no longer the case.

Regarding help from civil rights groups, apparently they already knew the Constitution had been nullified, but my family did not. If someone had told us, we could have saved lots of trouble and computer ink, and my hair might still be black.

Blessings!
