Gov. Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God." In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray ...

This lady is off the wall. She stated in her speech at the RNC that taxes "will go for....and re-establishing our Nuclear arms". I have no doubt that we will be bullying more than ever. I have no doubt that the Nuclear war will start in the Middle East. That the United States government will use Israel to ignite that war (which they will cooperate in doing because they need our protection), and we will essentially all be in harms way more than any terrorist would have the power or means to do so. We are rearing for a World War. Let`s make sure neither one of these bitter motivated lunatics get into office, please!!!!!!!!!!!

A total religious who would be "one heartbeat away from the White house."
And Mccain doesn't look or sound well, either.
Thanks and noted, Mary. SCARY!

No Sarah the Iraq war is a task from a money grubbing, belly crawling, pocket lining president. Let's not confuse God and Bush.

Palin and those people are a trip! They're all wearing animal pelts like they've conquered the animal kingdom! Morgan is right: Palin's God is BushCo, and their Commandments are to take all, consume all and ruin all.

What is going on in Alaska? Are they even part of the United States? This planet?

lol. i'm not goy. palin's biggest fan but i don't dislike her. i think it has been needed (for election purposes) to appeal to as many people as possible - that includes the religious right, hillary supporter's - who-ever. I think palin saw a very large carrot dangled in front of her face and had a very diffuclt time refusing. i'm jusifying her actions and god should not be used as justafication for war (who are the jihadist here?) and last night while watching the rnc i saw a lot of god and fear messages as i did during the early bush years. it's sad.
thanks for passing this on. noted.

Bryon, I agree. I don't dislike Palin either. I dislike what she supports. The McCain-Palin team would gravely set us back.

Byron, no offense but PLEASE don't put Hillary supporter in the same sentence as Palin's. Beliefs are as different as day and night and Hillary voters will not vote for Palin just because she is a woman. It is sort of an insult. We are smarter than that and care about ISSUES, not gender. I don't like Palin because she is "in your face" type and doesnt' listen to others besides being vindictive. Not a good person to have as VP in case Mccain dies in office and she will be in control of weapons.

Im a bit disturbed by this simple equation that Sarah Palin will somehow be good for women,cos..........she's a woman.Well it never has and never will work like that. This welfare and public services slashing, hard right winger ,will CRUCIFY working and middle class women. The only women who will benefit are members of the class she now belongs to,the ruling class, mega rich.Help with child care? f*** you,Help with healthcare for you and your kid ..f*** off and die (literally)..
This misguided assumption, regarding sisterly solidarity is delusional.Look at facts, she is a beleiver in a small state for the masses, and a big state for those with mega-bucks..who receive kick backs from the state, paid for by the little people ie the taxpayers.
When I was growing up,the majority of UK women (and men )beneffited from free healthcare, child benefits and paid holidays. These were measures which dragged millions out of poverty..how many more women will be dragged into poverty by the McCain/Palin axis of drivel ?.
Then our first woman Prime Minister was elected, and caused misery for millions of women.
Don't get me wrong,im not making some mysoginistic point,im just highlighting how women politicians can be just as harmful as any man, towards other women.
Palin is no feminist, she is also engaged in the usual Republican class war politics, stealing from the poor to give to the rich..
Most women will lose out in an Eva Braun-Palin administration..
To remove gender politics, from economics and social class is very very foolish.
Oh but she's a determined woman ,with a nice nose who dresses so stylishly say the dimmest ex-Hilary supporters, those who have switched to Beyond The- Palin..Well thats really going to improve the lives, of those millions of women who can't afford ,or have inadequate health insurance ..

Sometimes in politics one must duel with skunks, but no one should be fool enough to allow the skunks to choose the weapons.Like religion, politics, and family planning, cereal is not a topic to be brought up in public. It's too controversial. There's a gullible side to the American people. They can be easily misled. Religion is the best device used to mislead them.My country is the world, and my religion is to do good. my God is a god of love & understanding ! peace ,I can see clearly now, her brain has gone.
politics encircles us today like the coil of a snake from which one cannot get out, no matter how much one tries.

Wow! God must have a headache from those prayers! The devil has done such a good job blinding people to his existance these days! Whenever something bad happens I often hear people say 'why God? why have you done this to me or allowed it to happen???' I believe that just as there is a God there is most definately a devil. So, when something bad happens what they should be saying is 'Why has the devil caused this to happen?'I can't believe in my heart that God is agreeing with the violence occuring in Iraq, and for people such as Sarah Palin to suggest so sounds to me more like the devil is speaking through her. He wants this world to be in turmoil, he enjoys it when we are surrounded with chaos and live in fear. Can't Mrs. Palin see that she is being exploited by the republican party??? I believe that the ONLY reason that she was chosen is because she will be easily manipulated by them. I for one am actually offended by their choice. Of course I would love to see a female be elected for such an amazingly powerful position; however, I want that candidate to be qualified for the job. We need a strong leader in Washington...especially with the current issues our world is facing. I am willing to bet that (God forbid) the republican party wins this election we will see very little of Mrs. Palin...she may be taking the front lead in this election, but, if they gain power she will be riding in the back as much as possible, if not, in the glovebox...I can't see her having very much say in detrimental decision making. She looks quite literally like a 'republican puppet' to me smiling and moving her mouth while someone else speaks... So, I am going to be voting for Obama and doing ALOT of praying. I am quite sure that God is the only one who can intervene at this point and really make a change in our world.

You don't have to be an atheist, to see that people project there own desires, hopes, beliefs and personalities onto God.Liberals have a different version of God than Conservatives, some socialists see Jesus as the caring sharing son of God.
Palin's version is of a narrow minded, war mongering, homophobic God,(who probably shoots his own creations too),funnily enough those are her own characteristics.

I do agree with Rob L. on this issue as well...just because she is a female doesn't make her my sister...she seems more like a wolf in sheeps clothing to me. If she and McCain do win women are gonna be in big T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!

There is something about Sarah ...

Going For The Gut

by digby

I can't honestly say that I'm prescient about much of anything, but
I have said from the day she was nominated that her attitude toward animals was a serious weak point for Palin. It wasn't about regular All American hunting. This was about her not caring if the polar bears drown and supporting aerial wolf hunting, which takes her way into the outer boundaries of the anti-environmental and gun culture. She
is far from being mainstream on a whole host of issues, but this is one that creates a visceral, emotional reaction and shows just how extreme she really is.

It looks like that disturbing wolf hunting ad moves voters:

A new national focus group among 312 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents, revealed that after viewing a new ad by the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund regarding "Palin's Wildlife Record", there was moderate movement among all parties toward Barack Obama.

The study was conducted by HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion (MCIPO) on September 15, to obtain Americans' perceptions of a new ad which questions Governor Sarah Palin's record in regard to wildlife in Alaska.

"The ad which focuses on Governor Palin's record regarding the treatment of wildlife in Alaska seemed to strike a chord with voters," commented Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research. "The recent ads from both parties have had little impact among voters. This is the first ad in over a month that seems to have broken through," he added.

Among the study findings:

The ad earned Barack Obama a Political Communications Impact Score (PCI of 29.4 and John McCain received a score of 5.9, resulting in a net score of 23.5 for Barack Obama. The scores can be compared to a mean score of 9.3 for previously tested Obama ads and 7.5 for previously tested McCain ads. To date, the total mean score for all previously tested ads is 8.3

The most prevalent emotional responses reported from voters were "angry" and "disturbed" after viewing the ad. Click here:

It's one thing to be a frontier gal who hunts moose in Alaska for food. But most people instinctively get that there's something fundamentally wrong with this:

Thank you, Care2 members

You continue to give this election such deep thought, not just for yourselves, but also for the nation's wildlife like Alaska's polar bears, and our environment, including our lovely coastal waters.

I grew up watching National Geographic on television. It is my mom's favorite. She said we can learn a lot watching how animals live. One of the ladies she worked for would always give us National Geographic magazines, too. We must respect our wildlife and our environment. We live in an ecosystem. Eventually, whatever we do to Mother Earth and to the animals who live here with us will come back and haunt us.

I am scared of people who can look at a young deer nestled against his mother in the quiet of a spring morning, and shoot them. Who could stand hiding and watch the beauty of two bears frolicking together in the woods with the idea in mind to kill them both and hang their heads in their den?

It is little wonder to me that Palin teaches Sunday school kids that war is from God. If she were in charge of church recreation, she'd probably take them all out to kill animals for fun.

We don't need this, do you think so?

Mary
