Three important mental health bills passed in our nation's capital in 2008 with overwhelming bilateral support by members of the Senate and House. Mental health advocates have reason to look forward to 2009 with optimism, because as of December 27, Congress.org listed numerous bills pending before Congress to also address mental health care.

In 2008, our representatives worked together to effect positive change on behalf of citizens who face mental dysfunctions. Please note that passage of the bills described in the article at the link made improvements in other health areas, too, but my focus is mental health care. The fact that Democrats and Republicans reached a consensus on major health care legislation during an election year is quite impressive! Senators and congresspersons did not allow partisan politics to prohibit their determination to do what was needed for their constituents. President Bush signed all three laws without veto, so overwhelming was the support by our representatives.

There were other improvements in addition to the passage of notable bills by Congress. Our judges were awesome! Please read the article and share your thoughts.

Congratulate our representatives on coming together for needed CHANGE! It is my understanding that all of our congresspersons and senators supported one or all of the bills to improve mental health care. Positive feedback is well deserved.

Blessings, and happy New Year!
