Unfortunately, society has come to expect from any person it will behave in accordance with established patterns and models that can not be different from having a good social position, a good economic income, etc. look good.
All things essential not to be considered abnormal, strange, 'out' or 'different' from our society.
Many people today live exclusively according to these models and pose many things that the company expects to top the list of priorities in their lives: they marry and have children even if there are problems with your partner, buy an expensive car to be put on display even if they can afford it, you always show with a smiling face to please and be cordial, etc..

In reality, these people show up with a different face to really like them both. The result is that these individuals will have more and more problems, since all these means to achieve self-realization damage at the bottom are the illusion to feel good. Show others how others want you to be, will always be a cause of suffering and imbalance.
In fact many people are afraid to feel alone and marginalized.
Very important petition, #22.388 signed thank you Teresa

S&N. Best fix for this is to kill the propaganda and boycott the A&F stores. KMart and other discount stores sell odd sizes and sell for half to a fifth the price of the stupid ugly 'designer' dumps.

No A & F stores in my area. I've never shopped at one, never will. A better way to approach this, and BTW I heard about this on the nightly news and was disgusted.............a better approach would be for all customers to boycott them. They've openly said they only want CERTAIN customers, so what good will a petition do? They don't give a rip about what the public thinks, obviously. What will draw attention is NO business.

I guess what annoys me the most by Aberzombie & F@#^'s remarks when announcing their "marketing" change was that they only want to have certain "types" shop there. That's not helping teens or anyone else with their "self esteem" or "image". I guess they have a right to sell to whatever "market" they wish, same as Victoria's Secret. No company should be forced to market their products to everyone, but that is their legal right if they so desire, to market to a SPECIFIC one. For example, Victoria's Secret obviously markets to females who want to LOOK sexy, or to men who want to buy products for sexy women to give to those women in their lives, but V.S. doesn't have to provide XXXL size "thongs" or bras for all sizes. If the stores don't provide products that appeal to a consumer, or don't have what the consumer wants or needs, then those consumers can go elsewhere. That's called "free enterprise". V.S. has never claimed to want to appeal to everyone. I just find it sad that A&F, which is supposed to be an upscale dept. store has decided they only want GOOD LOOKING, and slimmer customers and said so publically.

Jeffrey's shouldn't be critiquing anybody. Could care less what happens to this persons snobby company. Will never enter a store and have informed everyone I know about the horrid way this man does business. My work mate brought in all his A&F items and gave them to a transient man down on his luck. The clothing line is well made but there's a lot of reputable clothing stores. I suggest hitting this snob in his wallet.

It's annoying that the fashion industry has dictated what is acceptable to either the world or to the "common male" -neither is true - either in my experience ( as a 66 yr old) or in my experience as an admirer of the human species - get off the sexist attitude and learn to love - for the characteristics of the human that appeals to you - and ditch either patriarchal shit - or matriarchal shit - let love be - with the most restrictive device - and a must - respect!

Back when I was a teenager, it wasn't just Abercrombie and Fitch. It was just department stores in general. My parents shopped at Sears, JC Penney, Elder-Beerman, among others. I didn't just have a problem with finding age appropriate clothing. I also had the problem of finding clothing in my size that was long enough. That issue persists to this day.

The best solution to this was in an old movie where a 'war' between the 'upper' and 'lower' class students was permanently abandoned in favour of a co-operative rescue of younger children from a burning building. Statement from a former 'upper class' high schooler was that the rescued grade schoolers 'hadn't chosen what group to join yet' and all of them deserved to live long enough to o so - and that the olive branch of switching to sports instead of fighting each other was permanent.

Shop K Mart instead of A&F, shop TJMaxx instead of DesignByKlein. Have more money left over to do something worthwhile instead of obsessing over clothes labels.

Diane L. hit the nail on the head with: That's called "free enterprise". V.S. has never claimed to want to appeal to everyone. I just find it sad that A&F, which is supposed to be an upscale dept. store has decided they only want GOOD LOOKING, and slimmer customers and said so publically.

People have the choice to market what products they want to, however, one shouldn't speak ill of others who are not within their market of choice.

Who determines what is good looking or not? In some societies the ones with a more robust body is thought to be more good looking, some societies stretch necks with rings as that is considered good looking. This is a member or members of one society that is dictating what others should "think" is good looking. Stop being the lemmings no matter where you live and enjoy what is comfortable to your own eyes.

With so many suffering due to the Corporate types like him, this was a poor time to state these things but it is not surprising. Many of the wealthy and well to do feel some sort of priviledge or feeling of "I'm better than you because I have all of this money".....therefore my opinion matters more than yours. It is this same ego and self centered right to arrogance that has thrown so many into poverty, that has raped and ravaged this earth.

I find these type of people very shallow in their Being, that money and good looks is all that matters, so I'd not be supporting someone like that. Marketing is one thing, being disrespectful is another. As they say, "there but for the grace of God go I".....I wish no ill upon anyone but he knows not what may befall him or someone he loves in the future. There is no certainty in this world, a bigger fish than he is eagarly waiting to gobble him up too, in this money at all cost and be damned to all while I make it and get it global economy the MultiNational Corporations and Banksters have thrown upon us all.

Thanks, Dandelion! Well said! I don't shop at VS, since their stuff doesn't appeal to me, and I'd look pretty silly in it. I'm not the "thong bikini" type, never have been, LOL! VS is more of a "specialty" market, same as other stores such as Birkenstock (shoes), and there are shops that sell nothing BUT "Big and Tall" and a chain named as such. My 6'7" grandson gets some things there, as does his Dad (a short 6'4") and even places that carry XXXL often doesn't have shirts with long enough arms. Now, should he demand they do? No, he buys what fits and he likes, but often has to go to places "such as" the "big & tall" specialty stores. Now, my 5'7" son wouldn't, so because he is "vertically challenged", should he complain to the big, tall stores to carry his size?

What I'm saying is in agreement with you, completely. A&F is not a specialty store, or at least never before claimed to be. No matter what size a person was, if they had the money to shop there, their business was welcomed. What's next.............the cosmetic departments will only sell to those people who need their, ONLY "unnatural" or "ugly" customers need buy? Probably a bad joke, but you get my drift, I think.

Diane L (110)
Tuesday May 21, 2013, 2:42 am
Dandelion, ya''ve suggested (probably inadvertently) a few new thoughts. Been watching DWTS and curious............the one who more than likely will be the winner is a 16-yr-old who is 6'1" tall. Where does she shop? She's not an XXL in size, probably.............she's somewhat on the thin side, BUT her Mom is 6'4" and doesn't appear to be thin. Not saying she's heavy, but at that size, where would SHE shop? Not everyone is a size 0! I'm 5'4" and far from heavy, but haven't been under a size 10 since I was 13.

Benjamin O'Keefe sat down with Abercrombie & Fitch senior staff members to come together in solidarity to discuss how to improve the company's lack of diversity in their clothing and branding.

He delivered 2,000 double-sided pages of his petition into the hands of Abercrombie executives. That petition represents over 75,000 names, 75,000 faces, 75,000 VOICES that have demanded to be heard.

Abercrombie & Fitch will be announcing what it plans to do as a company to increase it's diversity and inclusion.
