THE CHINESE NEW YEAR WILL BRING UNIMAGINABLE SUFFERING TO CHINESE CATS AS THEY ARE BEING SKINNED & BOILED WHILE STILL ALIVE IN SOUTH OF CHINA. CAT OWNERS ARE TERRORIZED BY CAT NABBERS.

PLEASE TAKE ACTION!

Cats are skinned and boiled while still alive in Guandong, a south of China province. For full story, please read this latest news, and take action for the defenseless which are suffering unspeakable pain and agony. For more info, and updates, check this link: http://www.antifursociety.org/ActionAlert.html

Please write to the Guandong authorities (cc to the Chinese Embassy) asking them to stop this horrific practice.

Your message will be more effective if you fax it or send it by snail mail in addition to emailing it. Regardless, please send them a message of disapproval. NOTE: Since this information may bring emotions to a high level, it is very important to keep it to polite messages or efforts to help those most unfortunate beings maybe in vain. Feel free to use the letter below, edit it or write your own. The important thing is to make it sincere and polite on behalf of the defenseless.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Newspapers worldwide are reporting about the extreme torture of cats that are skinned and then boiled alive by butchers in Guandong. Thousands of cats are sold to the Guangdong restaurants, and most of these cats come from other provinces where cat nabbers have become infamous all over China, terrorizing cat owners who fear that their cats may be stolen to be sent to Guandong restaurants. The shocking side of this story that’s making human beings all over the world shiver with indignation is that cats are skinned and dismembered alive, and still alive when thrown into boiling water to finally finish a most hellish suffering with their last breath.

It is with profound distress that I am writing to you regarding this most Inhumane treatment of cats and ask you wholeheartedly that you put a stop to it immediately. The West is horrified by so much vileness, and this will certainly not be a postcard that China would want for the world to see. It is because of these practices of a minority that the important and rich Chinese culture and history have become so stained and repudiated by most countries which have adhered to humane laws to protect the most defenseless members of our planet: the animals. It will not be difficult for China to adjust to this new era since most Chinese people abhor these extreme cruelties. The minority in your society who delight themselves on this type of cruel bloodshed are a few and they will only destroy China’s respectability around the world. Surely, not all Cantonese are proud of the smell of blood tainting their culture and history.

Quoting General Secretary Hu Jintao on December 18, 2008 commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the reform: “the spiritual poverty is not socialism,” can be translated also for non-humans as these practices are certainly a great poverty of spirit and one that will bring shame to the Chinese civilization. It is now a good oportunity to follow on his Excellency Hu Jintao’s footsteps to a rich and spiritual socialism.

Respected Guangdong Provincial party committee, the provincial government, Guangzhou Municipal party committee, the municipal government leads: These acts have driven people around the world beyond their limits of forbearance. There is nothing that should justify such horror, let alone something as selfish as the culture of food based on the suffering of the innocent and the defenseless.

I appeal to your conscience and the compassion that you surely have in your hearts, to put an end to so much suffering inflicted upon the most defenseless members of your society: the animals. Please make it illegal for butchers to inflict so much pain and agony on the voiceless and defenseless animals. Please investigate these atrocities, and forbid any food and beverage that is based on cruelty, and capture and destroy the suppliers and sales of live animal companions for food, immediately. Modern laws and regulations must be instituted immediately to avoid this type of traffic and the extreme suffering involved with it. No nation should have to be embarrassed of their own country because of a minority that can only bring shame and disgrace upon itself. It would be to the great advantage of China to put an end to this horrific treatment of animals to show the world that it is also compassionate and civilized, and has the ability to be an effective part of the third Millennium.

Sincerely,

As someone who has spent at least a month a year in Guangdong province since 2001, I can tell you that eating cats, while revolting to me personally, is minor compared to the other things that are common menu items in this region. Unlike restaurants in the west, there the food is keep alive inside the dining room in cages, aquariums, or - in the case of snakes and other reptiles - plastic tubs. I have never seen a dog or a cat in one but have seen deer and other small mammals. I did mistakenly eat rat there once because when it was served I thought it was pork.
Bad news is that there are literally hundreds of thousand restaurants here and their culture is totally different than ours in the US. Send all the emails you want. I agree with you that eating cats and dogs is repulsive, but the authorities there will pay no attention to it. They eat them too and think it is perfectly normal.

By the way: killing ANY animal by boiling and skinning alive is inhumane and cruel, weather it is a cat, dog, pig, rabbit and so on... When you want to eat meat, give the animal a humane and quick death. What the Chinese people are doing is sadistic torturing!
Thanks Simone

Okay, here are 2 sites with all the chinese embassies in the world:

http://www.embassyworld.com/dev/result.php?guest=43&host=%25&count=0&menu=1

http://www.muztagh.com/chinese-embassy/index.html

Flood them with emails...

I sent this letter to all the email addresses posted here and for which I thank you:

"Dear sirs/madams,

My name is Cid Martins and I am a Portuguese citizen.

I am writing to you because I am tired of reading news about the cruel way how your people treat animals.
You show no respect for life!

You may even close your ears and eyes and not care about what people like me (I assure you we are many all over the world) think of the way you behave towards animals. However, it is a big mistake to underestimate and ignore our outrage!

In this case I am writing this email because of the murder of thousands of cats (mainly skinned alive) in China.
If you want to read more about it, here is just one example of many sites about it on the Internet:

http://serbiananimalsvoice.wordpress.com/2009/01/02/china-terrible-suffering-inflicted-on-live-cats-please-read-on-and-take-action/

I would like to ask you the following:
- Do you believe you are superior to animals?
- Do you believe animals do not feel pain and fear just like us?
- Would you like to be in their shoes?
- Do you think you are entitled to live your life in peace and happy but animals do not have that right?

Well, let me tell you something, you are going to lose so much more than you think by continuing to act like this!
You have no idea how people all over the world are starting to hate China and its people.
All over the planet there is an increasing outrage towards your behaviour.

Again, here is just one more example of that:

http://www.care2.com/news/member/525884267/1004821 (And by the way, this community has over 10 million members!)

The amount of negative energy and feelings you are attracting towards yourselves will sooner or later come down on you and you will pay the price for your cruel actions.
You might think this is absolutely ridiculous but just wait and soon you will understand what I am talking about!

China will have to face the consequences for its soulless actions - total disrespect for human and animal life and for the environment.

Either you quickly change your ways or most people around the world will boycott your products and your culture. I am one of so many that do it already.

As Victor Hugo once said: "You can see the level of evolution of a people by the way it treats 'its' animals."
I guess you have already shown to all of us what your level of evolution is.

Thank you so much for your time.

Regards,"

I urge you all to write to them and also boycott chinese products!

It's not enough to post angry comments on Care2.
This is the most degenerated society on this planet! In general, they are nothing but money-making machines who only care about money.

Actions like this one are very common. For instance they also skin 2,000,000 dogs and cats every year for their fur and meat.
They own most of the illegal fishing ships out there, which are depleting our oceans.
They have no respect for international laws - Europe has already banned all import of fur of cats and dogs; however the chinese respect nothing and they will try to smuggle the fur anyway, just like they did with thousands of tons of CFC's into Europe up until 2006!

I don't' like chinese because they are chinese but because of what they do!
I mean, from a society which allows explicit slavery, one can't expect much...

I am very afraid that they will soon become the dominant country in the world! If that happens I really wouldn't like to be on this planet...

No freedom, no respect for life (human and non-human), making money as the ultimate goal, no individual happiness, no individuality or free thinking...

Are you ready for such a society? If you're not, then do something about it!
Boycott their products (don't even go to chinese restaurants) and culture and above all, let them know you're doing it!

If you don't do this, then please don't come here to post hypocritical comments!

And by the way, for those who eat meat and fish, do you have any idea how animals are slaughtered?
It isn't much different from what they do in china you know...!

If I'm hurting anyone's feelings, tough! I'm sorry but I believe Care2 is an activism site and not just another Hi5, facebook or second life...

Thanks and blessed be!

Standard letter and following letter sent to:

Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office, No. 45 Shamian Street, Guangzhou,
China 510130.

Madam Fu Ying, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United Kingdom, Chinese Embassy, 49-51 Portland Place, London, W1B 1JL

Mr. Chen Xiaodong, Minister of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China Chinese Embassy, 49-51 Portland Place, London, W1B 1JL

Mr.Zhang Lirong, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, 49-51 Portland Place, London, W1B 1JL

I write to you with serious regret and grave misgivings regarding images and reports that I am receiving regarding outdated, disgusting, barbaric and evil practices arising from your country. I am absolutely appalled that a nation which would wish to be considered by other nations as civilised, does nothing but stir revulsion, disgust, disdainment and repulsion from truly civilised and great nations.

I have been hearing reports, which I have been reluctant to believe, but have now seen the evidence for myself. I am of course talking about your horrendous treatment of the cats (which are treated as pets (along with dogs) and ‘one of the family’ in Britain, America and other civilised nations because of their intelligence, their elegance, their curious nature and their ability to offer unconditional love). I believe that the way in which a nation treats the animals in their possession is a reflection on how they treat their people. Look at the rights given to people in Britain and America; is it any coincidence that it is these countries that also have the highest standards of animal welfare in the world.

When I received reports and rather graphic pictures of cats crammed into cages I was angry, disgusted and appalled that anybody could treat a creature with such contempt and disregard for their condition and well-being. Cats suffer in the same way that we do (this has been amply demonstrated in scientific journals), they have the same capacity to feel pain as we do, they get frightened in the same way that we get frightened, and according to the sacred texts of all of the major religions of the world, they have souls. Bearing all of this in mind, imagine yourself and your family thrown into a box in which you were unable to move, afraid of suffocating, thirsty, afraid, in total fear. This is how each cat feels (if you don’t believe me look at the scientific evidence). Can you now see why I believe that China, though an advancing nation, will never be considered a civilised nation until all of this unnecessary, outdated, barbarity ceases. Speaking from an outsider’s point of view I see nothing but total disregard from your nation for the feelings and needs of others, whether people or animals. It seems that, as far as animal cruelty goes, there are no laws, and if there are, then I am sure that they are not regulated.

I am sure that you are aware that I am not alone in my opinion. There is a steady wave of unrest in the (true) civilised world against the practices in your country. This started as a ripple of disquiet and is steadily rising to a tidal wave of tsunamic proportions. I am sure that you have a good many decent people in your nation, people who care about others, about all creatures great and small. Where are their voices? If there are any great and compassionate people in power (which I see no evidence of), why do they let this depravity continue when it’s putting China back into the world ratings by decades?

Please, please do not ignore this letter, and if you are unable (or not permitted) to listen to the voices of your people, then listen to the hearts and minds of the people from my country, and from other ‘civilised’ nations around the world. Please consider carefully my words and the thoughts of my countrymen that you may be able (and permitted) to project compassion from the evil (and I DO believe that these practices are evil) that is currently being projected by the people of your country. It is up to the leaders and lawmakers to make a stand.

Many thanks.

With always, the greatest of respect,

Stephen Motson.

Jiun Lam, yes it helps thank you so much.

I already sent another letter to the email addresses you left here...

Unfortunately many members on Care2 only post comments saying they are disgusted, sign a petition, send a standard letter and that's it. They move on to the next thread and don't even bother to go all the way...

This site has over 10,000,000 members (apparently...) and I see absolutely no results whatsoever!!!! We can't even save one dog (http://www.care2.com/news/member/100334382/999687) let lone hundreds or thousands!

I'm not giving up but I am truly very sad to realize that most people just use Care2 as a way to clean their conscious so they're able to sleep better at night. Apart from that they just don't really get involved!!!

It's very frustrating... :((((

I received several notes informing me that their emails were bouncing back. I have been several other good emails. It is possible that the first email address received a disabling treatment at the onset of the email campaign. Happy to say these new emails are still working nicely. Please resend the letter which you will find on this link: http://www.antifursociety.org/ActionAlert.html

The Chinese New Year is fast approaching (Jan 26) and if we can speak out for all the poor cats that will be on their catering menu, it will be a very compassionate thing to do.

Please forward this note to all your listings.

THANK YOU!
