I'm one of those dudes. The ones you see in the supermarket checkout line carrying only a six-pack of middlebrow beer and a modestly priced bag of cat food. The ones who no longer care that they're out in clothing completely covered with hair. I'm a

It is only about cats Chris, it isnt meant to offend anyone. It is meant to say that real men like cats, kind men, compassionate men.

Have some people absolutly nothing more important to write about than cat and men stereotypes? What a load of nerdulant tosh! I may have been born a native of Brighton the UKs gay capital but that was before the word gay was in common currency as meaning anything other than bright or cheerful! Of course I have a cat and always have done since being born in fact! Anyone who has read my posts elsewhere will know my first cat was smuggled out of an army camp by a returning WW2 Iraq veteran having been under a death threat by the authorities. That hero was my father long since departed. All of us straight as the proverbial die. Apologies to any of my gay friends on care2 you should by now know that I'm not homophobic and deplore stupid stories either about straight or gay stereotypes, written by plonkers who have nothing better to write about!

I didn't see anything offensive about this article, Chris. It was just a humorous account of a man who loves his cat - and i laughed like heck at it, because the antics of the author's cat reminds me so much of my own cats - whom I would die for if need be. obviously you're a devoted cat person, and people like you and me have taken a lot of abuse by cat haters - but they are becoming more and more in the minority. Sociologists believe that this is because in an increasingly growing urban lifestyle, dogs are often lonely and impractical, and cats are more adaptable. This makes sense. But I think it's also because people are becoming aware that animals all have distinct personalities - and cats have personalities that can be very, very amusing! They are also very loving and affectionate. I love dogs - but cats are my soul mates!

Chris, if you aren't interested in reading about cats and men and gays or whatever, why did you click on this article?

I think the story is cute. and yes, steeotypical. But cute. And I should know- I converted my husband from a dog person to a cat person.

If my husband had not liked/loved my cats when we were dating, I would never have married him! And, although he's now bugging me to adopt a dog or a cockatiel (?sp?) bird, he loves our only remaining cat (my other 2 passed away).
